Tested using Opera Version 9.27

The pop up displays asking if I would like to read PM in new window. Answer yes the pop up closes but it does not open a new window. I then get taken back to my original page and it carries on loading. I then need to select "My Messages [1]" option and open and read from there.

Tested using IE 8.0.6

The pop up displays asking if I would like to read PM in new window. Answer yes and a new window opens and the original page carries on loading. The pop up with the PM take a long time to load but it does in the end. When I clcik on my new message it does not take me to the message itself. I have to scroll down to read the message

I found the same in IE.  The PM window was very slow.

In Firefox, if I click on  "Cancel" in the PM popup, sometimes the orginal page stips loading and sometimes it does not.  But opening PM's in a new tab from the forum menu does not cause the slow down.

There is definitely a bug in the PM module.

I don't think, this is a bug, because the same problem is not appearing on all RC1 sites

I think this is due to one of the security fixes that occurred in 3.0.6.
3.0.7 hasn't fixed this, but I am fairly sure. I haven't had the time to try a firefox nightly long enough to see if Firefox 3.1/3.5 has this issue or not.

This occurs on my 1.1 board as well.

It is definitely a Firefox issue with RC and it seems to involves the Messages module.  I belong to a slew of other forums using various software and only RC has this problem with Firefox.

Well I have now had to disable pop up on PM on all the forum I am visiting  :'(

I have just noticed that the spell checker pop up does the same thing. It just sits in the loading state but never does load. I have the same problem here with it as well

Yes I too have had this for quite some time with Firefox.  I currently have it using 3.0.7 (had it with 3.0.6).  I do not think it's entirely a SMF fault.  The content is $_POSTed but is halted at any redirection/refresh.

Thank you Rumbaar for the input. At least I know I am not going crazy.  I had the problem with FF 3.0.6 and it continues with 3.0.7. I did not have any problem until we upgraded to RC1.

I agree this is a combination between FF and SMF but the question is who is going to fix it.  :o I cannot see any of us being able to take this to FF developers and have any notice taken of it.

Let me know what the folks at Mozilla have to say.

If you activate popup on private message, depending on browser, it's doing strange things (tested on http://www.furgovw.org):

Firefox: You get a blank page and private message in a new window.

Internet Explorer & Safari: If you click OK, simply goes wherever you was going before popup.

Its a duplicate of this bug report.

At the moment we're unsure whether its an SMF or a Firefox bug.

SleePy

I can no longer get this to occur as of Firefox 3.0.8.

Anyone else able to confirm this?

I noticed the speed was good today using Firefox 3.0.8.  But I was not on a long time and I had no PM popups - which initiate the slowdown trouble.  But I can say the speed was better with the FF upgrade.

I haven't been able to reproduce this since 3.0.8 came out.

I did some research on this one as well and apparantly others have been having the same problem with the parent window "freezing"

I'll keep an eye on it and see if it happens again in FF 3.0.8
