read only permission ?

Again, the extreme newbie here...

Could anyone advise on how to:

Have 1 discussion board that is write only to certain members of my forum, yet still allow all members to see it? Meaning that only certain members can post topics, but all other members may read the topics.

Not sure if this is the correct way but you could make a custom profile for the forum you want to customise in admin / members / permissions / edit profiles / new profile, once you have made the profile apply it to the forum by going to admin / forum / boards / modify boards then click modify next to the board you want changed and set permission profile to the one you just made.

Now go back to admin / members / permissions / edit profiles and click the profile you made and set the permissions you want for each of your existing groups as well as guests etc allowing only the groups you want to be able to post to post new topics and replies.
