2.0 is not a  "package" in the SMF sense. You have to unzip it and load the files over your current SMF install. Then you will go to yoursite.com/upgrade and follow the steps.

Before doing this:

1) BACK UP
2) BACK UP
3) Uninstall all mods
4) Make your site's theme the "default" SMF theme
5) Load the new files
6) Go to yoursite.com/upgrade.php

You can not upgrade your forum to 2.0 through package manager,you should use large upgrade pack

after downloading the upgrade pack,you should unzip & upload it via FTP to your forum directory and run upgrade.php

Uninstalling the mods is actually not necessary,they should be automatically uninstalled,when you upload the upgrade files

So I was told upon my upgrade, but then, after having to FIX my forum, I would advise everyone else to uninstall all mods first. Granted you don't need to make the uninstall adjustments to the custom themes, but you would want to unsintall them at least from the default theme/templates.

BTW, my upgrade was just from 2.0 -> 2.0. OP's upgrade is from 1.x -> 2.0

Where you able to successfully upgrade your forum chefjohnnie.  Be mindful it's a one way process and it's still in the testing phase with many mods/theme not available yet.
