My forum members are clamoring to get back the ignore user mod that worked so well in version 1.1.X - but i don't see an update for version 2? I tried the manual install listed in the mods section but some of the code to look for didn't exist.

Just a little update as well, been running smf 2.0 in a live environment and a new template. So far, not a hitch, it's working beautifully.

Kudos to all the programmers  :D

Ignore posts/pms is a core feature in 2.x?

Not sure what the mod exactly does, and whether its the same as the feature in 2.x?

rhynes

That's what i've been reading but i'll be darned if I can figure it out... from what i understand, it's only for blocking pm's, not postings  :-[

karlbenson

It affects posts aswell.

When you view a topic with that users post. it doesn't show the post, but says that you have chosen to hide their post.
With a link so that if you click it, it will then reload with that post being shown.

Neither my users or myself have been able to get it to work

Profile > Pm preferences

Ignorelist: (enter the display name of the user to ignore)
1 per line

Goto one of the users posts, and it should look like my attachment.

But they dont they look like normal posts. I have checked as admin, moderator and regular member

karlbenson

I don't understand? Do you not get what I got above?

hawaiibillT

My bad. The problem is with the classic theme that came with beta4 it works fine with the default theme.

rhynes

Ok, i'm blind :(  The ignore feature is there and works like a charm for admins only. I don't know how to enable the feature for users to access but it works better this way. Now i can force the ignore of one user or the other.

Will save alot of scrapping :D

karlbenson

I don't believe you can force it on anyone.

Users must choose to ignore someone.

hawaiibillT

How can I get it to work with the classic theme or is there an updated classic theme that it works with.

rhynes

I don't know how to give access to members, only admin can access it. Yep, it can be forced but that's not what i mean. I'm giving members the choice to pm staff to ignore someone...

But if anyone knows where the switch is to give members access to the ignore user, let me know... i'm using the green theme right now for smf 2.0, not the default.

rhynes

I'm going to try the upgrade this weekend to RC1 to see if it's any different...

rhynes

Ok, i'm stunned, I was testing the ignore user with a membername I created and hadn't made a post with... Therefore the ignore feature wouldn't show up.

So yeah, it works  :)
