I'm having this same problem - but just with 2.0RC "THEMES" only... I've installed several other "mods" (packages) with no problem -

Info-

New Fresh Build - 2.0RC1
All folders are 0777 (I mean, I got so tired of FTP errors on select folders, I temporarily chmod 777 EVERYthing)

Error:

Package upload failed due to the following error:
"Although the package was downloaded to the server it appears to be empty. Please check the Packages directory, and the "temp" sub-directory are both writable. If you continue to experience this problem you should try extracting the package on your PC and uploading the extracted files into a subdirectory in your Packages directory and try again. For example, if the package was called shout.tar.gz you should:
1) Download the package to your local PC and extract it into files.
2) Using an FTP client create a new directory in your "Packages" folder, in this example you may call it "shout".
3) Upload all the files from the extracted package to this directory.
4) Go back to the package manager browse page and the package will be automatically found by SMF."

Any ideas?

Thanks -

As a "PS" of sorts... I just added the /TEMP folder... and chmod it to 777 - I'll see if that helps any -

TIA

---- LATER -----

No, that did not help either...

Also, reading others' and their post/questions/problems - I installed mine via FTP upload - and ran the manual installation...

More later :)

Does anyone know, if you install in the /forum folder, how the ROOT directory is can point there from the main index page? I originally was going to run just SMF so loaded it on the ROOT - but after wanting a portal, I WIPED THE SITE CLEAN, and loaded it into a /FORUM subfolder... but now if I go to my main URL - it just shows /forum on the blank page -

I know packages like MKPortal will rewrite - or add - their own index.php/htm file in the ROOT - but if I don't use theirs, and use simple or EZ portal - it's not creating any index page / direction -

Thoughts?

Thanks

This is definitely a BUG people...

I've tried everything - in regards to THEMES - and it's just not flying -

Even the MANUAL install is balking at me... :(

I took several  2.0RC1 themes from SMF Mods site - and unzipped them, and FTP'd them to my /Packages/NAMEOF THEME folder - set everything to 0777 - and it does NOT show up in the "Browse Packages" folder within Site Admin...?

I also moved the ZIPPED files over to /PACKAGES direct thinking maybe the Admin "browse" packages would "see" the apps  --- well, it didn't, However, when I THEN tried to upload them (they are all 777 remember) - the uploader then says - "this file already "EXISTS!" - "Try deleting it, then re-uploading" -

Point being, it definitely sees the Zipped file(s) - but does not show them... nor does it know what to do with them (IMHO)

FWIW, this has only happened with 2.0RC1 THEMES files - for I've successfully uploaded and installed about 18 non-theme-based applications/mods just today alone - So I dunno what to say?

Thanks!

PS: My ALL CAPS are not shouting... I just wanna make sure whomever is reading this, catches those points... Hopefully we can get something sorted - cuz I have 2 great 2.0 sites going - but can't change the themes!! :-)

Yes, this is probably why XD. You don't install themes through the package manager. You install them through the theme manager XD. It's under Configuration > Themes and Layout > Manage and Install. This should help XD.

Hi Killer-B,

The problems you have with install mods by package manager i've to. All the things you try i try it also with no results.
I don't speak about themes because at this moment i only just the default theme.

I've also a thread in the dutch board because i don't know the answer for this problem.

Thanks vlindertje

XlyarII answered my question - I did not know how I overlooked this...

I guess I had been working with 115/7 so much, I didn't notice that in 2.0 - But was definitely my mistake - and I knew better :(

Have a good weekend -
