Adding own header bar and google adsense

Hello,

I and just installed SMF and would appreciate some help customising it.  I would like to add my own header above the forum and tips on where should I add the header code- I have tried main_above but it did not work as I thought.

Also any advise on how to add adsense in posts and topics?

In the future, please search as this has been discussed many times.
The easiest way of adding adsense is to use the ad management mod. Alternatively you can add the code manually to your template. There is a tip for this in the Tips and Tricks board.

As for adding a header, you'll need to put it after </head> in the theme. If you're having problems, please post the code you're using and we may be able to provide some pointers.
