Hey guys!  My forums are installed at

http://www.originald.com/forums/

Is there any way to make people that only go to the home page at www.originald.com show up in the "users active" area at the bottom of the forums?

karlbenson

You would need to use ssi and the function on your homepage
<?php ssi_logOnline(); ?>

That will Log Online Presence and show on your homepage who is online.

Thank you for the super quick reply!

I added that code in and all the content on my front page disappeared!  Anybody know of a reason that would happen?

Could it be that I am using a mod that brought people's phpbb3 passwords over?

karlbenson

did you include SSI.php first?

require("SSI.php");

Then call the function?

dewdrinker19

I have tried

require("SSI.php");
<?php ssi_logOnline(); ?>

and

require("http://www.originald.com/forums/SSI.php");
<?php ssi_logOnline(); ?>

but I still get the same results.

Thank you for your help this far.  I sometimes have 50+ guests according to that page and would love for the message boards to show the same!

If it's already a PHP page, then you just need to do this:

require_once('/path/to/forum/SSI.php');
ssi_logOnline();

I put that code in and it didn't seem to hurt anything.  So far the numbers are still way off but I'm assuming that is because the main page also has a 15 minute period of time before it takes out people.  I will come back in a while and see if the number have become the same.  Thanks for the help you two!

Sorry I'm such a noob at this stuff, everybody is at one point right? haha

40 minutes later and there are 24 guests on my main site and 1 on the forums.  :(

Ugh.

It should reflect the current online status of your forum.

I can't see the sample coding on your main page, but in my test it's accurately and instantaneously reflected the state of my forum.
