We have a Mambo bridge, which is the recommended method for linking SMF and mambo. See the bridge download page :)

To display an SMF login box, you'll need SSI. See: SSI Readme. Note that if you use the bridge, mambo and SMF will share logins, so SSI is not needed.

Hi,

Just bumping.

I will try and explain more easily. I want to embed the forum into an existing webpage. The webpage i want to embed it into is PHP etc. i dont care that the SMF theme won't match my site for now but just want to learn and have instructions to embed SMF into an exisiting webpage.

Thanks
Mat

If you're not bothered about your forum matching your web site, then just install SMF in a subdirectory on your web server (e.g. /forum) and put a link to it on you web site menu. You'll also need to add a link back to your main site from the forum by adding it to the SMF menu. The code for this is in the template_menu() function in index.template.php in your theme folder.

If you want to make the look and feel the same, modify your SMF theme to match your site. That's how my site works. The main site is built with Joomla! and the forum is SMF. There is no integration of the two parts of the site, but it navigates as one.

Hi Mat, is this issue resolved now? If not, take a look here on how to use SSI with your webpages. You can integrate the login and other forum features to your webpages outside of SMF.
