Editting header and footer (default SMF theme)

Hello everyone!  This is my first post in these forums.  First off, I would like to say I am happy that I switched from phpBB to SMF.  I just did it today!  I just need a little help.  I need to know where to find the header and footer files so that I can change my forum text logo to a JPEG one and to edit the footer.

Gerard, since this is your first post I'll attempt to be as nice as possible about this...

SEARCH Search search for questions before you post.

You will find the header and footer inside the index.template.php file.  You can edit this in your Admin Control Panel>Current Theme Settings and clicking to edit the file; or you can do it offline and then upload the file. 

It is strongly suggested that you do not modify the default theme but create a new one instead.

Thanks.  Sorry I didn't search   Would you also happen to know where the variable for the site's name in that file is?  I want to replace it with the logo but I don't know where it is.
