I would like to give a member full powers over one catagory to admin as he sees fit but no powers elsewhere.

Create/Modify/Delete Boards

Allow/Deny groups access

Allow/Deny individual members access

I think you want one of Grudge's mods Member Specific Permissions. Then create a user group with local permissions and set that member to it.

The member specific permissions Mod does not give someone admin permissions just individual moderator permissions.

This has been posted in feature requests and may be made a feature or mod at a later time but is not currently possible without some amount of modification.

I thank you for the reply but your statement is rather redundant.  Try telling us something we do not know next time.

Of course it is not currently possible or I would have found a way to do this by now. Considering I posted 11 days ago and tried many things before I asked the question the first time.

I can impose such a feature with a second copy of the SMF software running in a different folder linking logins and using a simple redirect.

I am still hoping something like the Member Specific Permissions Mod which is Board Specific can be made Category Specific so people can be assigned their own category to manage.

Well, this really has nothing to do with the concept of "member specific permissions", because it would be no less difficult to make this change for groups than for members.  Making that mod category specific will not make it do what you're asking for here any more or less; it really has nothing to do with this feature.

Further, you posted in Administration and Functionality (under General English Support) and not Feature Requests.  That means you're asking if this can be done, not if it can be added such that it can be.  And, there has already been a feature request posted for this feature, at least once (although it was a while ago indeed.)

So, if you want to say that my statement is redundant, I think it is just as fair of me to say that your question is just as rhetorical.  If you already knew it was not currently possible, why did you ask?  I replied, even 11 days after you had first posted, because the initial reply you got was not correct.

If you are still unsure about what topics the various boards cover, please consult their descriptions which are short but usually fairly directive.
