Hi,

I need to find a way to send emails through SMF to users in the SMF application user database which is members of a specific group which has approved that they wanna have newsletters.

Are there any ways to do this today ?  Or am I forced to develop something own ?

It would be wonderful if it could integrate / bridge with MAILMAN (this one would be best) or PHPLIST :)

PS! I know there is a mail feature inside SMF, but that doesn't check if they self has declined to get newsletters and a good mail engine like MAILMAN would be great !DS

SMF already includes this functionality actually.

But how does SMF work with emails to thousands of members ? Mailman for example is very effective and also includes feature like the old good Majordomo to unsubscribe through email.

Not too well in 1.0x, if you have thousands, you would be best off spliting it up into "chunks" of a few hundred.

1.1 should handle it better, but thats not out yet.

I'm sorry for umping up this topic after so long, but I'd be very interested also in knowing how to mass mail tens of thousands of users in SMF 1.0.* . The SMF software just times out. An integration with Mailman (or similar) would be great.

Does anybody have any ideas on this please?

Many thanks.  :)

I've asked this question several times in various forums and everyone seams to collectively agree that the 3rd part stuff is the way to go.  When I say "third party", I mean they send your mail for you from another server.

I wish I could think of the name of the big dog place.  I stumbled on them by searching for "auto responders".
