Also use a Proper PHP GUI editing software to do the job. Notepad ++ is one of them.

thanks, but that dosnt work either. it dosnt matter im scrapping the shout box idea just now. tryed it on the defult theme. looks ugly

You can customize the shoutbox to your theme by changing the CSS.

If you want i can give a try to the shoutbox. Let me know your theme as i didnt get the things i was looking for, i randomly tried the shoutbox code to the place i thought it would be the best.

Also a suggestion if you would like. There is a shoutbox in tinyportal aswell. It fits in quite well and you can customize it. I havnt checked it by latest, but it doesnt have the feature of auto refresh, but rest all if fine.

Even there is Hackspark which works quite good. You can give a try to those if you need the shoutbox.

Ajax chat has an option to run it as a shoutbox as well that is what I use and I love it. I can sit in the chat room and chat or just chat on the shoutbox and it doesn't matter which you use you still can chat with the same people. Plus it has alot of nice commands

You should not be editing templates live through the admin centre unless you know exactly what you are doing. This means you have thoroughly tested the edits in question elsewhere and are sure they are correct. Trial and error is for local host test sites, not for live sites owned by other people.

You can change the looks by changing the css. I just did an example of this shoutbox for a 1.1.8 custom theme. It isn't difficult.


F.L.A.M.E.R, Tiny Portal's shoutbox is good but TP is not available for SMF 2 at the moment and wont be for some time. If you want a portal for SMF 2 that comes with an integrated shoutbox you can use PortaMx, and I think Simple Portal has one too.

Oh.. I never saw that. Yea well we can integrate the shoutbox's. I should first try testing  nneonneo's Shoutbox for kris1903's theme as it might help out other users. Lets see if i get to know what theme is it.
