Hi all, as per the above topic. Sorry if this has been asked before, I did a search but nothing really answered my question clearly.

I am new to SMF, having just transferred our old phpbb forum over to yours. I am using the RC1 release and today whilst browsing the admin logs, I found an entry that I thought was odd. A normal member ( no special perms given) had been looking at the admin panel, I quickly logged off and used my member only account and sure enough the admin tab is showing which if clicked will take you to that section, though thankfully you cant see any menu`s or do any damage.

So my question is, have I set something up wrong, or is this normal for SMF.

Again forgive me, if this has been asked before.

Thanks

Rich

Try going to:

ADMIN --> PERMISSIONS --> Regular Members {modify}

And make sure that nothing admin related is checked.

Another possibility is that you have a caching level set above 0 (Admin->Configuration->"Server Settings"->Caching); in some server configurations (for me, at caching level 2 and above) the menu caching can end up occasionally showing the Admin or Moderate top menu links to regular users.

Just another thing to check.

hi, thanks guys. Checked the settings as per what KahneFan mentioned, all  appears ok.
just checked the cache level and its set to 1, which appears to be default - as it says recommended

will change to 0 and let you know.

EDIT - sorry just seen this at the bottom of the page

SMF has not been able to detect a compatible accelerator on your server

So what setting would you suggest for this?

Thanks

Rich

Can you link to your forum?  What theme are you using? Are you sure it's not hard coded into a legacy theme layout?
