Hey,

I have a user submit gallery on my site, its so they can upload their shots and post the links for friends to see, less of a free image host, more of a community.

I've been using SMF since you guys first released the free version, i'm going to upgrade to Charter once i'm making some money off the site. Totally stoked with the software, its the best around by a far mile.

Basically I want to allow the users to register on the forum/site (so they can choose 'register' on the site, and its a forum login too.
So they dont have to signup once for the site, and once for the forum cos its just too much hassle for some people.

I understand its going to be a hassle moving the pics on the site, over to being as 'owned' by a username on the forum, but that was expected and it shouldnt take a few hours to change all the names on the SQL.

So how can I integrate the two? I'd also need to get the username of the logged in person so I can put it into my SQL database for the gallery, but i'm assuming this is easy :)

Really appreciate any help
-James.

Theres two things that may help

http://simplemachines.org/community/ssi_examples.php (Found on all forums)
and theres the API (which I understand to be a tool for integrations) http://www.simplemachines.org/download.php?converters

Im just not sure of how you work, but coppermine gallery can be integrated with SMF easily :)

ssi.php  ;)

doing a search for ssi.php will help you out finding out how to use it. ;)

Another question:

How do you guys test whether a user is logged in & what admin (if any) they have?

I'd like to have messages like 'welcome ###' but not using the ssi.php defaults. Also like to give them some extra links on my site, which isnt connected to the forums obviously. Would like to know :) Cheers.

Look in the coding discussion board for the SSI faqs, it's all covered there.
