Two forum layouts...

Basically, I run a roleplay board, and we're having a bit of a divide on what members think the best kind of layout is. About half the members would prefer that everything were as compacted with child boards and stuff as possible, while the other half doesn't like child boards and wants all the forums simply laid out.

Is there any way to give them both? I'm thinking it would work somehow like making two different boards (each with the same forums, except that in one they're laid out, while in the other they're organized into sub forums) that connect to the same database so that if you post on one, it appears likewise on the other.

Is this impossibly complicated? Is there no way to offer both kinds of layout to appease all the members?

Another possibility, which might be feasible, would be if there is any way or any mod that would allow regular members to rearrange the layout per their own preferences? Like in layout preferences, they would be able to edit how their account views the forum arrangement.

Compromise. Make it fairly simple with a few child boards to tidy things up. That way all of them are equally happy and unhappy and it's a lot easier for you (who will have to do all the work).
