Is this going to be updated for 2.0.2?
Tell you what, next time I talk to him, I'll get permission to take the modification over, and I'll provide an update to SMF 2.0.x.
Feel free.

You had to...didn't you?

* Labradoodle-360 has to add one more thing to his to-do list. Two, actually. Transfer the mod, then rewrite it.

Nick Whetstone

I'd transfer it for you, but I can't anymore. :P Sorry.

You could also quit being lazy and just rewrote it yourself and save us both the trouble on an early Saturday morning ;))

Nick Whetstone

Or I could not. Either way. :P I've pretty much given up on writing Mods/programming in general.

This is something I am interested in, but can't seem to find the update for 2.0.2 anywhere.  Was it ever modified for 2.0.2?

Matthew K.

Have you tried using version emulate?

I hope Labradoodle-360 can update this mod. I am almost certain that (Ha)² already gives the permission to take over to Labradoodle-360 in this post, wasn't he?

Valkrider

I have tried to install this Mod in 2.0RC2 emulation mode on v2.0.2 and it fails with a "Error in Package Installation" error message so I didn't take a chance and install it.

Anyone got any idea how I can get this mod to install?

Will the manual install instructions from the main mod page work with 2.0.2?

Matthew K.

You can walk through the manual installation, that should work. Just make sure to backup first.

The 1.1.x version of this mod does not work. It should be withdrawn until it is debugged.

I had installed it on the assumption that it would work, but after registering an account the username is still shown as the display name. :P

ETA: Just took a look at both versions (1.1.x and 2.0.x) and the problem is obvious. The 2.0.x version includes code for Sources/Register.php. The 1.1.x version does not. It only edits the template and the languages files, which of course is not sufficient.

Assuming the 2.0.x version actually does work (haven't tested it yet) the fix for 1.1.x should be as follows (in Register.php).

Find:
'username' => $_POST['user'],

Replace:
'username' => $_POST['user'],
'realName' => $_POST['realName'],

Antechinus

Well I just tested that live, and it still doesn't work.

Since the same code (in effect) is what the 2.0.x version depends on, I have to ask if anyone has actually verified that any version of the mod does what it is supposed to do.

Valkrider

I certainly couldn't get it working on 2.0.2 emulating earlier versions.

Antechinus

So you're saying it installed correctly, but didn't function as it should?

Valkrider

No sorry I should have been clearer it wouldn't even install.

Antechinus

Ok, I'll do some testing on this thing tonight. It's a handy extra layer of sceurity against password hacks, and I want it working asap.

I've just done a bit of testing. It installs on 2.0.3 if you use version emulation, and seems to work properly once installed. AFAICT, it's only the 1.1.x version that is buggy.

If you couldn't get it to install on 2.0.3, you probably mis-typed the version (it has to use the exact, case-sensitive format SMF 2.0 RC2 ) or you have another mod that conflicts with this one.

------------------------------------

This is getting weirder. The 1.1.x version sems to work on local host, but not on production (online) host. Code is exactly the same in both instances.
