Any idea why some of my registered members cannot see the attachment facility so are unable to post any? They open the additional options bit but the attachment box isn't there. The settings are such that all registered members can post attachments so how come only some can?  :-\

Check the permissions for their member group.

According to the permissions on the member groups they should be able to post attachments...

Check all groups the users are in. Post based and normal group. Perhaps it helps.

Hi. Not sure what you mean by check all groups (post based and normal group).

Here is an exmple. I have a member (Newbie) who is unable to post attachments on one discussion area but apparently can on another. My settings are such that all newbies should be able to post attachments on any areas. This members permissions are also set so she can post attachments. The area she's having problems with is set to "local" (don't know what the heck that means or if it would make a difference if I changed it to Global). All other Newbies can post on this area that she's having problems with. I'm baffled!

I have a member (Newbie) who is unable to post attachments on one discussion area but apparently can on another.

A few things to highlight here:

1. The member is a Newbie, yes, as well as in another group - at least one other.  Likely Ungrouped Members.
2. You probably have different boards set to use their own ("local") permissions, instead of the more easily configurable ("global") permissions.
3. Have you tried clicking on "Show Permissions" in the member's profile?

LainaaMy settings are such that all newbies should be able to post attachments on any areas.

So you're sure that you've edited all the boards you've set to use local permissions, and have not used DENY anywhere for that permission?

Lainaa(don't know what the heck that means or if it would make a difference if I changed it to Global)

Try changing it to "global".  Local means that the board uses its own permissions; click on the board's name to configure its specific permissions.
