Newest post question

Is there anyway I can have a "newest/lastest post"  box  outside my forum...like on the html part of my site.


This isn't my site but you can see on the left box those are the latest topics rotating around

...anyone know how to do that

i believe it can be achieved with some ssi coding, but sadly i don't know how to do that
