A simple question

Hello

I've installed smf forum 1.0 on a win workstation and tried to upgrade to 1.0.2 using the package manager (just to try the forum). The upgrade to 1.0.1 went well, with no errors, but when I've tried to upgrade to 1.0.2 there where two failed operations.

Is this OK?

Also, some modules presented the same problems while trying to install (but they seem to work ok)

Well, I've got these errors:

1.     Execute Modification     ./changelog.txt     Failure

3.    Execute Modification    ./news_readme.html    Failure

while trying to upgrade to 1.0.2 from 1.0.1.

Also, other modules which I've downloaded with the package manager presented some similar failures.

Hi,

I don't think you need to worry about those two files. Could it be that they are read only? That might explain the errors.

As for other modules, they may be giving similar errors if they too are not set properly.
I suggest you check the CHMOD settings for them and set them to either 755 or 777 and then try the package manager again

Those two files are unimportant anyway so you don't need to worry.

The problem is that I'm running this forum on windows as administrator (I have an apache and mysql server installed localy) so there are no permissions.

Also, after those errors, now there are two files with the name "changelog":

changelog.txt and changelog.txt~ (they have different sizes)

I don't know what's the problem

The one with a tilda is a backup.  If you don't like backups, for some strange reason, you can turn them off in the options.

I'm certainly no expert when it comes to Windows Servers, but you might like to check out some of the threads on Google Groups (XP) for useful info.
