Theme has been updated with the toolbar icons contributed by sdl. The new package contains a full toolbar. Also, some minor issues (boardread link, advanced search link in the dhtml menu) were corrected.

Seems that editing / removing attachments isn't possible (or just not allowed)... Guess, I have to create a new post.

I did this mainly for fun and to learn the SMF template system - the skin was originally developed vor vB3 and released for free (see: http://www.aqua-soft.org/board/showthread.php?t=22419 ).

You can check it out at: http://www.miranda.or.at/forums/

Its not set as default skin, so if you want to see it, you have to use the test account:

TestAcc / test666

.. or just append ?theme=8 to the main URL.

This is not yet complete and still requires some work. Whether it will be released or not depends on getting permission to release (and therefore distribute) it, because all the graphics were created by the folks at aqua-soft.

Maybe, I'll use the templates for a completely new skin with my own graphical content.

@All,

Thanks for the thumbs up..

Still working on it right now.. playing with collapsable categories and sections via dhtml (vB / IPB style) and checking for all templates validating w/o any errors.

Also, the post box got a new look with dropdowns for font face/size. And I have a few more ideas :)

As for permission to release: I still got no answer...

However, I will, at least, release the templates (because, they are my work anyway) when they are finished. I may add my own gradients, icons (or maybe use the default SMF icons) and then release these templates as a complete style w/o the aqua-soft copyrighted content.

Great theme!

Even if you don't get permission, there is more than enough new and refreshing elements in this theme to make it really good with other graphics too.

Looking forward to seeing the end result. :)

Yes, the templates alone are worth a release :)

And I have enough own graphical content which I created for other boards. Gradients, icons and even buttons can be reused without problems - doesn't matter if its vB, IPB, wbb or whatever else. And it's easy to replace them if one doesn't like them.

I say , just start using those. ;) Waiting for an answer could take some time...and you can always use them again if you do get a positive answer.

Yeah, I have some stuff lying around which I once started to create for a "brushed" aqua-ish style. Maybe, I'am gonna use this, so the resulting theme would be similar to the aqua-soft one, but with a brushed/graphite look.

Hey there Nightwish,

I dunno.. i really think the theme is awesome and hope you don't have any issues releasing it.. if you go to phpbbhacks they have a demo of a theme that's pretty much the same as the hte aqua-soft (Macinscott2) ... i don't see where the prob's would be.. looking forward to some good news as i'd use it in a heart-beat ;)

Cheers..  8)

Very nice, I remember Oldiesmann was looking for a mac style skin. (That does look like a mac dont it?)

Nightwish

Yeah, it should look a bit like Mac OS X. Thats on purpose.

As for releasing: I'am gonna release the templates for sure, most likely with different artwork, because all these icons and buttons are not my work and copyrighted by the people at aqua-soft.org who created the original vB 3 skin.

Yes, that does look like a Mac. I was looking for a Mac-style theme because another board I post on has a sweet Mac-style skin (IPB 1.3.1), and I was hoping at some point to convince the owner to convert to SMF...

Some updates:

The theme is almost finished and ready for release within the next few days.

Preview: http://hell.at.eu.org/forums/index.php?theme=11

The only thing which will NOT be included in the release are the top icons in the navigation bar. Someone pointed out that they really look like they were ripped directly from OS X, so releasing them into open source is probably a pretty bad idea.

Everything else is unique - I created a full set of aqua-style glass buttons, new gradients for the table headers and some other stuff. Topic icons are still default SMF - I may make aqua-style icons later...

The theme is a bit different from the first version, because I added separated categories and some more new things. Note that, *some* stuff (like the post icons in the last post section on the board index, or the new 2-lines inline linktree (VB style)) is not related to the template and requires some changes in the sources (although, most of them are very minor changes).

I like what you did to the links tree .. could not that be done through template only i.e. theme_linktree
