I put the .css file from the readme folder in the theme root and the correctly named search-button (tb_search_a.gif) into /images/buttons. But that damn thing wont show up. All the other buttons work. What went wrong?

Just ran into this. You need to edit aqua.css and graphite.css;

Find:
#tbsearch
Replace with:
#a_tbsearch

There is no code in the .css file for the quicklinks, so after the #tbsearch line, add:
#a_quicklinks { height:45px;background: url(images/buttons/tb_quick_a.gif) no-repeat top center; display: inline; float:left;}

The two missing buttons should appear after that.

Incidentally, where did you get the original buttons? I had to make my own.

That did the job. :) Im still having those error messages (tons of) and the dhtml-menus are broken, I´ll take a closer look when I have more time.

The buttons: I actually stole them from http://www.miranda.or.at/forums/ [nofollow]  ;) If You´re using Mozilla Firefox, just load the page, goto "extras" , "page informations", "media" (denotation might differ, I translated from my German version). Now You see all used images on this page with a preview. Just scroll through and You can save the images to Your HD (btw: You can easily save cool flash-movies or games this way). You only miss the admin-button, filename is: tb_admin_a.gif. You will know the rest of the url to load the button directly into Your browser ;)

First of all: I love Your theme! Brilliant work.

But Im having a few problems: If You have a look at the first screenshot, You can see that for some reason the search ("Suche") button is not visible.

Also the DHTML-Menus are kind of screwed up, as You can see on the above screenshot.

http://wiwi-board.junkyard.name/bilda/screenshot3.gif (61KB)
This is a screenshot of my error-log. These errors repeat that "Undefined index: a03"-error for a01, a02, a03 and a05.

I can provide You a test-account on my board if thats helpful.

It seems you didn't install the theme properly and there are some .css issues. The error messages come from unavailable language variables, because they are only provided for english (languages/index.english.php). If you use the theme in a different language, you have to translate them (there are only a few new lang vars, right at the end of the language file starting after:

I'd like to add a chat icon to my toolbar.  Can you please provide the code as well as the image?

-Dan The Man

I had to fiddle a lot with the code to get my Photos button to work (I do graphics - I'm not even a wannbe pimple on a coder's butt) .  Lots of trial and error on my ignorant part, so I don't want mess you (or anyone else) up by showing you what I did. But if Nightwish could write code/make room for one or two extra buttons of any kind, I'll be happy to make them, all ready to go.

Here's a chat icon for you.
http://orderjet.com/tb_chat_a.gif [nofollow]

Anything else, just let me know.  Anyone who plays in Photoshop, the master button file is here: http://orderjet.com/smfaqua_tb.psd [nofollow] - each button is a layer, with the same layer effects applied (drop shadow and bezel) - my theory for these buttons was to keep the formatting the same (size, relative placement, drop shadow, etc., but make the buttons themselves unique, all very different, so that they're easier to spot/navigate.  To see what the button will look like, you can turn on the bottom layer (temporarily), which is the background on which it will appear. When you "Save For Web", the options will be set, with the perfect matte background already set for the transparency.

I just renamed "index.english.php" to "index.german.php" and those error messages are gone. I will translate that stuff later. But theres one more type of error-message left:

8: Undefined index: 158bis
File: /www/htdocs/subdmg/smf/Themes/SMFAQUA1_0/BoardIndex.template.php (eval?)
Line: 417

Looking in BoardIndex.template.php at line 417  it seems that theres some kind of problem with the "users online today"-mod Your theme supports. I have this mod installed.

    // "Users online Today"
if($settings['mod_online_today_installed'])
echo '
    <tbody><tr>
    <td class="catbg2" colspan="2">', $txt['158bis'], ' ( ', $context['num_users_today'], ' ', $context['num_users_today'] == 1 ? $txt['user'] : $txt['users'], ' )</td>
    </tr><tr>
    <td class="windowbg" width="20" valign="middle" align="center"><img src="', $settings['images_url'], '/icons/online.gif" alt="', $txt['158bis'], '" border="0" /></td>
    <td class="windowbg2" width="100%"><span class="smalltext">', $context['user_today'], '</span></td>
    </tr></tbody>';

Any ideas how to fix that?

sdl, would you be able to make a Member Map and Music Database buttons then? You are certainly doing a great job coming up with these buttons

If not, that's okay too as you've already done a lot of them :)

Here's a modified sample shot of what I've done with the theme:

I have the Board Redirect Mod loaded, which allows me to redirect to the Calendar and to the bridged Coppermine gallery from the forum list as well as the toolbar.

I love the aqua theme, but I prefer a lighter, softer look/blend, so I edited the aqua.css file, and everywhere it said 3873B3 (reference to the deeper blue color), I replaced it with AECEE2 (the softer, lighter blue you see in the image.

Later, when I have time, I'm going to work on some cool rollover images for the toolbar. I'll include all the buttons talked about so far, but if there's anything I'm missing, please let me know so I can include them as options.

It's just another language variable you're missing and this time, it belongs to the online_today mod.

Quote// Version: 1.0; Modifications

//OnLine Users Today
$txt['158bis'] = 'Users OnLine Today';
$txt['smf_stats_14bis'] = 'Users Online Today';

At least, I can find these in my language file (Modifications.english.php).

Love your theme, soon to be the default theme on my board.

The only thing I have a problem with is that the news is not displaying. It is enabled in the settings, but just not showing up. I know it is probably something simple that I am missing, but just looking for some help!

Thanks

Rob

That was perfectly correct.  :D Its running now without any errors. Im happy!  ;) Just one more thing (Im getting annoying, right?): I noticed You determined a different font-size for graphit.css. This is too small for my tft-resolution (1280*1024) so I want to have the same font-size used in aqua.css. I was not able to change this by myself, shame on me. I thought it was this part:

/* Default font sizes: small (8pt), normal (10pt), and large (14pt). */
.smalltext
{
font-size: 10px;
font-family: Lucida Grande,Verdana, arial, helvetica, serif;
line-height:120%;
}
.normaltext
{
font-size: 11px;
}
.largetext
{
font-size: 12px;
}

But its identical in both .css-files. I guess there is some kind of sub-class which sets the font-size for the postings, but I failed to find it.

I have the same happening.  I swear the news was displaying before but now it isn't on the theme after the recent update...unless I'm imagining it was showing before.

This is intentional. That stuff from the top bar has been removed. News can still be visible at the board index.

I am running the theme, but with quite a few errors? Just wondering what I could do to fix it. Here are the errors!

I have 4 pages of these, in just about 20 minutes of use!

Thanks

Could You please tell me what I have to change in the graphite-css-file to make the fonts the same size like in the aqua-css-file? See http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=30772.msg273565#msg273565

Hi

Are there any icons available for this theme? The folder icon is the standard purple one.

Thanks a lot!

music_man

Hi

I am also having trouble with SSI. I have my SMF forum located at /forum. In the root folder I have index.php where I would like to do some SSI. I go <?php ssi_menubar(); ?> and it just lists the links and the javascript does not work.

Is there any way of having the images display and javascript work? Is there a way of linking to the aqua theme using ssi?

Thanks very much.

One of the nicest themes I've seen to date for SMF, absolutely brilliant. For a change all my members, to a man, approve (there's a first time for everything :))
