Hi
I have a forum which I ported from YABBse to SMF.
Just now after looking at a few SMF forums which were installed fresh, I noticed that my index.php is missing some tidbits.
One thing I would like to know how to include is the
"Show unread posts since last visit" &
"Show replies to your posts"
Features.

If you could let me know what and where to put the info for these or even if they are available on a YABBse ported forum that would be great.

<edit>All the above has been rectified thanks</edit>

If someone has the knowledge, could you also advise how to pull these features using SSI?

Look into the file "Themes/default/index.template.php" to see how this is coded. Add the same template code into the file "index.template.php" of your converted theme.

Without being able to see your site :P I'd guess that you are still using the YabbSE theme!?

If so, those features are not shown on the page of that theme...

they are available there though... you can copy the code from the default theme to that one...

index.php?action=unread and index.php?action=unreadreplies are the links... try them and you'll see the results...

rakuli

Thanks for that.
:-[ Should have thought of that myself.  :o

Now that that's sorted.

Anyone know how to pull these things to another page using SSI?

The site's not responding  ???
Sorry fizzy, the site isn't online. It's all being conducted on closed network at the moment. (In the middle of moving house)

andrea

No need to use SSI for that inside the forum.

For SSI please look into the ssi examples or read the "Basic SSI FAQ".

Anyone know how to pull these things to another page using SSI?

Do you mean another page as in a seperate webpage... or a different theme on your forum!?

if a webpage... use the SSI tut's that Andrea suggested...

if another theme on your forum... that's a bit tricker... :o

rakuli

Hi
Yes I mean using it in another webpage which isn't part of the forum but still on the same site.
Eg.Currently on my sites homepage, which is not the forum index I use SSI_welcome() to greet logged in members with their current PM details.

Thanks,

Cypher7

I got this from another thread...

if you use this code on your webpage... it should pull in those links for you...

<?
if ($context['user']['is_logged'])
echo '

                                                        <a href="', $scripturl, '?action=unread">', $txt['unread_since_visit'], '</a><br />
<a href="', $scripturl, '?action=unreadreplies">', $txt['show_unread_replies'], '</a><br />
<a href="', $scripturl, '?action=unread;all">', $txt['unread_topics_all'], '</a>

';

?>

rakuli

Hey thanks for that.  :D

I did find that but didn't think it would work outside of the forum because it doesn't use SSI.
