A server when down for a few hours and when it came back up the forum generates these when you try to view a board:

LainaaDatabase Error
Can't open file: 'smf_log_topics.MYD'. (errno: 145)
File: /home/site/public_html/smf/Sources/MessageIndex.php
Line: 367

I've searched and the one related issue is not in my native language, and babel fish just gives me babble that doesn't make sense.

An english explanation will save my only day off for the next two weeks. :(

Try

REPAIR TABLE smf_log_topics;

in phpmyadmin.

This happens when the table was in use and MySQL exited unexpectedly.

Thanks for quick reply Ben_S, we don't have php admin on this barebones server, so I've had to telnet and use the mysql monitor, which isn't reponding to dump or help commands. So I've sent an email to the hosting support to see if they can't resolve this. Thanks again.

You can install pmpMyAdmin easilly,

LainaaMost hosts provide a copy of phpMyAdmin for you to use, you can often access it through your website control panel, if you cannot find it, you can download it from <http://www.phpmyadmin.net/>. Installation is simple, download the zip file, unzip it, and open up the config.inc.php file in your favourite editor. There are two settings you need to change, these are $cfg['PmaAbsoluteUri'], set this to the URL where you plan to upload phpMyAdmin to, e.g. http://www.yourdomain.tld/phpMyAdmin. The other option you need to set is $cfg['Servers'][$i]['auth_type'], change this from config to http, this basically tells phpMyAdmin to ask for your MySQL username and password when you browse to its URL. You can now upload it.

Thanks, I'll do that after this is sorted and I've had a stiff drink. Or tomorrow if I'm not hungover. ;)
