how to download mods to home server.

Hello this a newbie question, i have set up an EASYPHP server and installed SMF on my home computer for testing and general learning duties  I need to know how can i make it possible to get my localhost/smf board to download direct online mods? And if i can make my SMF board available online how do i manage this..But to be honest i am not interested to much the board being availabe online but i am keen on downloading mods direct from SMF control panel..

I know less than the word nothing..

So i never bothered trying

And since my orrigonal post i ahve since been back and tried it and i have been able to connect fine plus downlaod a couple of mods..
