From what I've read on the forums here, it has something to do with the Conversion not know where the IPB Avatars are located.  Is there a way I can forcefully tell the Conversion where they are?  They are located in the same directory as attachments (/uploads).  Also, looking at the code, it looks like it supposed to pickup that directory as well.

Any help would be great.  I'm trying to make this switch to SMF 1.1.8 as smooth as possible.

yes, these errors are related to the old avatars. you can edit the ipb2_to_smf.sql and find:
