Error while banning (takes > 5 minutes)

When i ban someone i see this error :

yes i have a lot of banned accounts. error is keep doing. what shall i do?

Using phpMyAdmin (What is phpMyAdmin?) check your database tables to make sure you don't have any that are crashed.  Specifically take a look at smf_ban_items and smf_ban_groups tables.

only error 500 (internal error) and more than 2-3 minutes to ban someone.

If you are getting Internal Server Errors, it would be a good idea to contact your host.  At least take a look at your server error logs if you can from your host control panel.

The ban queries in smf 1.1.x don't work well with many banned items/members.

They have been re-written in smf 2.x to be much more efficient.
