How to manualy install mods.

I've searched the forum for a LONG time, without finding the answer to this.

My webserver is running in safe mode. As you know that makes it a problem to install mods through the packet manager.
How do I do it manually?

Can I upload the mod-archive to someplace and CHMOD some files and the do it through the packet manager?
Or do I have to edit all files manually?
I want to install the shout box.

I'd be very happy if anyone could help me out.

You'll have to do everything manually. If you open the mod file it will tell you what needs to be done. It will state if certain files need to be uploaded and which files are to be edited.
