Help with different categories

Can someone tell me in layman terms on how to make different categories on my discussion board?

As the only category I have now is general and would like to make different ones.

How  do I accomplish this?  Thank you

In the admin panel where it has Manage Boards, look under just a bit and you should see Create a new Category button. It should be above

General Category (modify) and to the right.
