A bit of an update on this:

I got a beta package out to my beta testers the other day, containing the basic bar, a notification system, a visitors block in every profile, user activity (Like the Facebook wall).
The notification and user activity systems will be supporting many of the big mods such as SMF Arcade, SMF Gallery, SMF Media Gallery, SMF Links, SMF Articles, SA Battle, SA Shop etc etc etc.

However, the development of this is temporary canceled as I don't really feel like working on these particular features right now, nor the chat feature that will be added.
Hopefully though, it'll be out to you before the end of the year, either as a public beta or as a stable package.

Meanwhile, keep our eyes open for other mods ;)

Awesome! I heard there was a chat feature coming out like Facebook's sometime, but is that still coming?
It seems it'll be an epic mod when released!

Nobody has given up on it. Nas is pretty busy so hasn't had time to focus on just this :)

Just wanted to mention that this is a really cool mod.  I would like to see a field to add a custom link/button.

I love this MOD too, that's why I've made the corrections for  2.0 RC2.
I'v also enhanced the gfx and included the french-utf8 translation.
You will find in the archive 2 alternate gfx to suit to your needs.

Tested with default CURVE theme on 2.0 RC2
I don't know if it works on other themes.

Hope you will love my little contribution.
