IMG in signature resizes to 400 x 32? Why!

Okay, I have a banner for my signature that is 500 x 40.
I put it in, but SMF resizes it to 400 x 32...

When I go back to my signature settings to check it's put these values...
..img width=400 height=32]http://MY PIC[/img]

If I change them, SMF just changes it back.
I have no restrictions set for signature size...at least not that I can see, so why does this happen?

Perhaps you have an image size restriction in affect for IMG tags? Have you checked what the size restriction is for posted images?
