converting phpbb2 to smf problem

I enter everything correctly but it gives me this error:
Sorry, the database connection information used in the specified installation of SMF cannot access the installation of phpBB2. This may either mean that the installation doesn't exist, or that the MySQL account used does not have permissions to access it.

Am I suppose to chmod 777 something? Also, am I suppose to keep the install.php for both of them? Also my phpbb forum has mods does that effect it?

Did you supply it with the proper username/password for accessing the MySQL Database? You can normally check those through PHPMyAdmin

ya i did. I installed it correctly and insert the correct password. It only ask for password for security reasons.

Do you use cPanel?

So the problem I'm having is because my user I used to the smf database isn't added to the php database? I think you're right...I got it to work, but at the part where you convert attachments is that where it ends because I can't pass that part since I dont have the mod for it.

The attachments thing is an additional part after the main converter finishes. At that point, it has already converted everything else, so you don't need to worry about not having the attachments mod.
