I recently changed host so I downloaded my database from SMF 2.0 RC1-1 on my hard disk. I've uploaded a fresh smf on my new host and installed it. Now I'm trying to restore database with bigdump but I receive the following error:

Error at the line 3005: /*!40101 SET character_set_client = @saved_cs_client */;
Query: /*!40101 SET character_set_client = @saved_cs_client */;
MySQL: Variable 'character_set_client' can't be set to the value of 'NULL'

I looked the line 3005 and all I find there is:

/*!40101 SET character_set_client = @saved_cs_client */;

Should I change something?

Have you tried restoring via your site's cpanel?

Chronus

yes but phpmyadmin is not the best option for large database (in my case 12 Mb)

kat

Mine's about that big and I restore/backup from cpanel>backups easily enough.

through phpmyadmin? because I keep getting timeout that is why I'm using Bigdump

kat

No, not phpmyadmin.

Just simply cpanel>backups.

Chronus

I see the restore option in backups but I'm not sure how I'm going to restore the old database and rewrite tables in new one from fresh installed smf.

Arantor

You use a tool like phpMyAdmin to restore the backups.

try reading again. Using phpmyadmin is not an option

Arantor

You can split the backup file using any text editor to make it smaller. But as Kat said you can use cPanel's backups feature - there should be a restore option in there.

Any advice on this? Using cpanel and phpadmin is not an option at the moment.

kat

Without access to cpanel, I suspect, to use an English term, that you're knackered.

Although...

I seem to remember there being a utility that someone wrote, where you can backup/restore, without needing cpanel, or even SMF.

It's just a case of finding it, for you...
