Please attach your Load.php file here.

To update a mod, uninstall it, download the new version and install it.
New versions of Aeva will send a fatal error anyway if you try to install it over a pre-existing Aeva.

did the latest version have justin.tv on it is that one of the new places you can place clips from if so i already have it and didnt realise it

I added support for justin.tv a few weeks ago already.
Glad you did, it's being used a lot on my website as it's great source for live tennis matches.

Try with this one. It has the Aeva code removed from it. You'll probably still get the error message but you can proceed safely.

55 mods? Wow... It's surprising you don't have problems when installing/uninstalling new stuff.

What I'm looking for is a mod that will try to turn your links into embed code. I can't seem to find this in your list. Again, the code in your page does not belong to Aeva. Are you sure you pasted an actual link to the original video? And again-again, can you try to disable Aeva (not uninstall it, just disable it through its Admin area)? Just see if it keeps embedding... If it does, then it really isn't Aeva's fault... Aeva needs to see links in the first place.

Also, and forgive me because I know I'm not in the worse possible position to say this since I'm a co-author... It really hurts my eyes to see SMF Gallery Lite in your list. Please use SMF Media Gallery (check out my signature), it has twice as many features. And there's a converter for SMF Gallery -- you can keep both galleries online at the same time to compare them until you choose to uninstall either of them. It will only take a few minutes of your time ;)

thanks Buddy

it is true that i've disabled AEVA Mod from Admin Panel

I've also offered you my Admin ID to check it out.

- May be during Uninstaltion some related codes were not removed completely / mean Clean Unistallation of AEVA was not done perfectly (but did not show any Error that time)

- I'll Install/ Convert SMF Media Gallery in near future

I don't need your admin password for now... If I were to fix everyone's issues by using ftp/admin every time, no one would learn how to fix their own problems, they'd always rely on me... ;)
In this case, it's not an issue with Aeva. It's a problem with what is already installed on your board. Given the number of mods you have, I'm not surprised at all. You have to find the board that stops Aeva from working correctly.

Your code (with Aeva disabled) says this:

<embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Suc1P0H-1Lw&rel=1" width="425px" height="350px" wmode="transparent" quality="high" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="never" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" /><noembed><object codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0"  type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://www.youtube.com/v/Suc1P0H-1Lw" width="425px" height="350px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Suc1P0H-1Lw" /><param name="wmode" value="transparent" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="never" /><param name="pluginspage" value="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"></object></noembed><br /><br />

With Aeva enabled, it should say something like this:

<div><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Suc1P0H-1Lw&amp;rel=1" width="425px" height="344px" wmode="transparent" quality="high" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="never" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" autoplay="false" autostart="false" /><noembed><a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/Suc1P0H-1Lw&amp;rel=1" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/Suc1P0H-1Lw&amp;rel=1</a></noembed></div>

As you can see -- no relation between the two... Maybe you're using a very old version of Aeva and you forgot to uninstall it, I don't know. That's probably that. You'll have to attach your Subs.php file here for me to see.

OK here is my Subs.php, Renamed as Subs.php.txt

Yeah, I was right.

Look at line 2469. You have a whole AEVAC section. It's obviously a version < 3.0 so it's quite old.
The Subs file for AEVAC at that time was called:
Subs-AutoEmbedVideoClips.php
Then it got renamed to Subs-AEVAC.php, then Subs-Aevac.php, then Subs-Aeva.php... Lol.
I didn't even remember it had another name...

Anyway -- early versions are easy to uninstall. In Subs.php, remove lines 2469 to 2494. In Load.php, remove the line that says "$context['disableautoembedvideo'] = 1 ;". Finally, remove the Subs-AutoEmbedVideoClips.php file (you won't need it anymore). That's all...

It's been a long time since I first mentioned my desire to add options through an aeva tag...
In the end I decided to drop the idea. Additionally, it was slowing me down -- I knew this tag thing would be a lot of work (several days at least), so I was reluctant to start working on it, especially with the community not being sure about the best solution.

So, a couple of hours ago, I started making some tries with the lookup feature. I added the ability to specify several strings to look up (inside an array of strings), which automatically turns the lookup feature into an "option lookup". Instead of retrieving an updated URL, it will retrieve specific settings for the video.

I'm hereby announcing that I've managed to do my first video embed with a specific width/height lookup using anchors to store the final data :) Yaha!
I didn't choose the easier one, lol. I took a Facebook video. Facebook has custom video dimensions, so I thought it was be a good experience. Unfortunately the freaking website doesn't accept requests from empty user agents, so I had to make one up*, and use ini_set to enable it (which is not so cool, because if your server doesn't support ini_set for user_agent, you won't be able to make a lookup on Facebook).

Anyway-- after a few hours of refining, it finally works! Yaha again.
Now, off to YouTube :) I heard I was supposed to implement something... What was it called already? "Widescreen?" Okay... lol :)

For those interested, my video URL looks like this:
http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=48687475089#w756-h567

Of course, it will work perfectly even if Aeva is uninstalled (no leftover tags). I'll try to refine it so that the options don't show up when Aeva is disabled or uninstalled.

* Opera/9.21 (PHP/SMF/Aeva; U; fr) which means: Aeva from SMF using PHP, French because I'm French et puis voilà, Opera 9.21 because I used that one for months and months and months... If you have a better idea, feel free to suggest it :P

Great work, looking forward to the YouTube detection! :D

Considering YouTube.com widescreen all their videos, some of us may just want all our videos widescreen as well... would that be a possible option?

Nao 尚

Nope... Cuz I'm a bastard :D
And what a waste of screenspace!

micky_2556

hello

is there any way to embad from my site

Eliana Tamerin

That's good news, Nao. I think that's the perfect solution, using arguments on the end of URLs  to give options to AEVA, instead of tags. It saves your brain and our breath. ;)

If you want to see how it looks:
http://site.noisen.com/aeva-dev/5060/tests-video-embedding/new/#new
(Sorry, the width isn't large enough to see full videos, lol... Maybe I should add a "max-width" setting to the admin area?)

I've committed revision 41 for all geeks to see. (And revision 42, of course, will be a public release. Can't skip that one, lol!) You know where to download it (SVN server). As usual, unpack and rezip after, before you try to install it.

Changelog:

Remember, this specific version is not for the general public.

+ Added support for per-video non-intrusive settings, including widescreen mode and video dimensions
  for now (Subs-Aeva.php)
+ Added support for arrays of lookup patterns, which allows to set these settings automatically at
lookup time: YouTube widescreen mode and Facebook video dimensions (Subs-Aeva.php, Subs-Aeva-Sites.php)
* Added a fake user agent when doing lookups, otherwise Facebook would refuse working with us
  (Subs-Aeva.php)
* Try to enable lookups and youtube embedding check by default on first installs, if they can be done
  (Subs-Aeva-Admin.php)
! lookup-enabled variable from Subs-Aeva-Sites.php was never used (Subs-Aeva.php)

!! Known issues !!
- When changing settings in admin area, after saving them you still need to go to the Site list section and hit
"Save" to update the generated list (sorry about that!)
- Descriptions, as in description, get erased at lookup time
- YouTube videos will always have a "fs" or "ws" (fullscreen/widescreen) setting next to them now -- is this
  the desired behavior?

Oh, just to be clear ;) Anyone interested in trying out the new stuff, please test it! I'm planning to release an official version tomorrow, hopefully with all the small issues fixed in the meantime. If you see anything that's not in the known issues list, you know what to do!
