nothing happens, im using smf 2.0 beta 4

What are you using aeva version? if 5.1.x ,
go to admin panel = > modifications and packages => avea and enable aeva.

QuoteMaybe I should add a "max-width" setting to the admin area?

That sounds like it might be wise. My forum, for instance, is wrapped inside a CMS so I have less width available for the forum than normal. A video that is too wide would get cut off I assume.

As long as 0 disables it. ;)

Oh, just to be clear ;) Anyone interested in trying out the new stuff, please test it! I'm planning to release an official version tomorrow, hopefully with all the small issues fixed in the meantime. If you see anything that's not in the known issues list, you know what to do!
I would like to test, but I also would like to know what I'm testing for. The link http://site.noisen.com/aeva-dev/5060/tests-video-embedding/msg228115/#msg228115 is basically the same as the original, just without the black top and buttom bar. Is that what the modchanges does?

Hi Nao 尚

Guys......I´ve tried everything, believe me, and i cant get it to work.
I did it through the admin panel in the forum.... it uploads, but when i click on Install..it says sth like:  "Sorry sesion expired, couldn´t install" I tried the two versions you have there, n nothing .

Then I did it manually, very carefully modified the code and it didnt work either.

PLease help me, actually if i can get youtube videos (at least) to work in my forum, i´ll be more than happy.

(i m using smf 1.1.7)

thanks a lot and regards from Colombia !

@mark & Eliana> Okay. I'll try to remember implementing that.

@wallac3> it's a SMF issue, not an Aeva issue...

...............................

What else did you expect? Yes it's the same as the original, but with a larger width, so that it doesn't show black bars. You can also disable this manually per-video by replacing "ws" with "fs" in the resulting URL.

The mod change does a lot of things. This is only the very visible part. Read the changelog...

Regarding max-width...
I would like to point out that I applied it to my website without any changes to Aeva.
Open style.css
Add the end, add this:
embed { max-width: 600px }
As you can see on my test topic, it works just fine...

Should I still proceed and implement it?

I found an error in version 40. I tried to post this message:

It's very simple to insert an Youtube video in any post on xxx.

Just visit Youtubes homepage and copy the address. Then just paste the link into your post.

Ex:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlfKdbWwruY

Result:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlfKdbWwruY
The strange thing is that preview of the message works ok, but the result looks like this:

It's very simple to insert an Youtube video in any post on xxx.

Just visit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlfKdbWwruY

Edit: Hmm, SMF screws up my code. See the attached file for the code I tried to post

Nao 尚

Thanks, it's related to the 3rd known issue in the latest changelog actually ;)
I'll start working on fixing this ASAP...

The code seems to work on in AEVAC 3.

Another issue: The video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlfKdbWwruY which was used in my post seems to be embedded in LQ in rev. 40. But other videos I tried, seems to be embedded in HQ as they should. It's a brand new SMF 2.0 beta 4 forum with no mods except AEVA rev. 40 (and soon SMG)

And the video also embed in HQ in my own modded version of AEVAC 3

Well of course it does...
What you pointed out is a bug that I mentioned in my "known issues", as I said.
It WILL be fixed, and I won't release v42 before it's fixed, of course.

The problem with Where the hell is Matt, is that it has lots of versions available on YouTube, so I'm kinda lost... ;) This version here has a LQ and a HD (please note: HD, not HQ!) version. Usually they have either LQ or HQ.
Try removing the "isHDAvailable" mention in Subs-Aeva-Generated-Sites.php, and re-type the URL in your post. Tell me if it works ;)

I will try that, but the actually same link work with hq in my modded AEVAC3.

I found an error in version 40.
I lost some time uselessly, trying to find out what extra code I had added that triggered the error...
Actually, I just found out that it was in a pre-existing function (the one that checks whether YT videos can be embedded!)
Shouldn't be long before it's fixed, now...

I'm a bit surprised the error didn't show up in previous versions.
Could anyone try to copy Akyhne's code.txt contents into a post on their board with an official release installed? (Any release will do.) Just out of curiosity.

As for HQ, I'm afraid I don't have any problem on my own website with the Matt video...?

It's the same issue in SMF 1.1.7 with rev. 25 and rev. 36, so I guess the error was always there.

Phew...Fixed!!

http://aeva.noisen.com/dev/5060/tests-video-embedding/msg228125/#msg228125

It was all about adding an extra slash in the youtube pattern... lol. It's always the same-- you spend hours on a bug, and then it only takes a single character to fix them.

Just so you know-- search Subs-Aeva.php and Subs-Aeva-Sites.php for "youtube\.com" and replace with "youtube\.com/"... And it's gone away!

Yeah it works in rev. 39. Rev. 40 though doesn't work with SMF 1.1.7. Hang on...

Akyhne

When installing rev. 40 in two different SMF 1.1.7 forums, I get the same error:

Table 'xxx_smf_translation.smf_log_packages' doesn't exist
Fil: /home/www/xxx.yyy.dk/Sources/Subs-Aeva-Admin.php
Linie: 92

I don't get the same error with rev. 25 and rev. 39 in the same forums.
