I never had to paste a Youtube link that I didn't want to embed to people. What you are asking is that the very few times you have to paste a Youtube link where you DON'T want it embed, you just paste the link. And all the other 99,7% times you have to click a button to embed.

You could also use the "Custom BBC code" mod to create a youtube BBC noembed button if you want:

We have had a discussion about a button & a special tag some days/weeks ago (Started in this thread on 37 or so). Nao 尚 even put a poll onto his support site to ask users about this feature and force a discussion about the pros & cons.

He called me "biggest fan of button & tag" and he is right.
But finally his arguments against a special bbcode tag were better than mine.
There are a lot of reasons. Some depend on the mod-code others on functionality and usability.

In the end (and after playing around with this mod) I must say, that he is right.
I'm still a code-tag fanboy (and use the same arguments than you) but I'm relative sure that the chosen solution will be better (in this special case and in the long term).

The discussion is over and done since he made his final decision.

If your settings.php look like the one you have posted (the first time), you seem to have some mayor problems with your SMF.
I recommend to start with What is repair_settings.php? and than you have to investigate why your settings.php is screwed up.
Imho this is not Aeva related.

Apparently flawless upgrade to 5.26. I notice that when YT videos have external embedding disabled that the video player thumbnail doesn't appear anymore and it is just a link now with the "external embedding disabled" message. I think this is an improvement.

You had an issue or something, before. Glad that it was fixed, but I don't remember changing anything on that side.
Except of course that Aeva 5.2 is way, way better than v5.1 in terms of functionality and flexibility.
(You should all update, in case you still haven't. This is probably going to be the last update in a long time anyway. I have nothing further to add, your Honor.)

I'm a novice at this and not sure what's happening. I've been updating the Aeva (Auto-Embed Video & Audio) file with no problem till now. Now I get this error:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare modifyaevasettings() (previously declared in /home/ukrainee/public_html/forum/Sources/ModSettings.php:412) in /home/ukrainee/public_html/forum/Sources/ModSettings.php on line 420

Can someone tell me what's going on and how can I fix it? I haven't gone into my file manager for anything, so I don't know why this all of a sudden happened. I tried older versions of the Aeva mod but still happens. I delete the old version as told, before I try to load the latest version which is, 5.2.56.

I just also read that "that when YT videos have external embedding disabled"? I noticed that and thought it was because of the error message that I got while updating to the latest version 5.2.56.

We use video's quite often, so this is important to my forum. Thank you for your time.

I'm quite sure modifyaevasettings() is not part of the older AEVAC versions, since Nao changed the name. So my guess is you installed the latest version before uninstalling old versions, right?

I've been updating the files for some time and have made sure every time to remove (uninstall) the old version, both in the "Browse packages" and the "Installed packages" sections before updating. Never had issues like this.

Is this what's causing the video thumbnails not to show in posts? Remember, I'm a novice at this.

Any suggestions on how I can correct this?

Try look in your Modsettings.php file. It seems you have the function ModifyAevaSettings() two times in there.

I did a file search on Modsettings.php but nothing found. I do see the folder for: Aeva-5.2.56 zip, but nothing else on Aeva. I know I applied the mod.

I did find this. I was wondering if I should delete all these from the backup folder and try to install it again? Remember, I don't know if this will work. I'm not a pro at this.

Your error says that the function is declared on line 412 and then again on line 420 in modsettings.php, so it should be there.

Are you sure you are checking the online version and not the offline version?
