Rummie, it might be best to figure out a solution for your specific board. SMF is designed to be used primarily by MS/Mac/Linux PC-based internet browsers. PSP, Wii, Xbox, etc are not the typical browsing devices for the forum, so taking them into account should be done only on a case-by-case basis.
Do NOT PM me for support.

[url] and [iurl] tags must be enabled
If the link is not active, that is why it has not been converted.

@ Rummie
All other objects are converted first. (thats why youtube bbcode etc have precedence).
So even if I added a limit, it would still keep converting those.
The more I think about this the only, quick, efficient and convenient way to do this is via the count and limit method above.  Ignoring the limiter for users on anything less than php 5.1.0
(since very few people will be running php4 now anyway and its getting canned at Christmas)

Great mod, thanks!  Only issue is the empty post error when you post just a link.  You have to enter a period or a number of something for it to take the post.

This is an issue with SMF that affects all video clip mods (not just this one).

I posted a separate fix mod http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=200401.msg1279572#msg1279572

@Chopper.
I've not had any reports of that before.
Do you have any other video mods installed?
Can you check in Subs.php that this mod is not installed twice?

If necessary can you attach your Subs.php to a post here so I can double check.

SoulPleX

Is it possible to creat my own video link site?

For example:

http://123.123.123.123/folder/video.wmv.

All i would put into the post is video.wmv. which 'video' could be anything. The file extension and the IP address would always stay the same.

karlbenson

SoulPlex.
This mod does NOT support embedding your own content or non-flash based clips.
I would suggest you look at the 'embed' mod by 1948pal which does support it with embed bbcode.

DASBEAN

Wow this is a fantastic mod, thank you!!!

Any possibility of adding CollegeHumor into the list of sites that work?

Thanks!!!

dashaman

I tried putting a gametrailer video clip but it doesn work o_o just shows me the html any ideas?

Also I've managed to provide a fix for the bug of ALL SMF embed video clip bbcode type mods for the error "Message is empty", when you ONLY have a video clip in posts"

It is awaiting approval by smf (You can't yet download it from the mod site, but for now i've attached a copy here)

How do you apply this fix?

Thanks

Where do i find this? If its in Sources folder i have two Subs.php......is that correct?

@ Mr Bean,
you install the fix as a mod via the  package manager
@ Chopper.
No sorry.
If your getting two videos, it may have installed twice INTO the file subs.php.

If you can attach that file here I'll take a look.

@forty
Indeed, the mod requires 'automatically convert urls' to be enabled. I will need to state that when I update the readme for the mod.

The reason why that link is not converted is because it is NOT valid.
The ID for the youtube video has to be 11 characters (according to youtube).
Whereas the top one you posted is only 10.
If you click the link, youtube itself will tell you the link is not validly formed.

When attempting to apply this fix, I receive the error: "The package you are trying to download or install is either corrupt or not compatible with this version of SMF."

SMF v1.1.4, Auto Embed Video Clips v1.2

Thanks

karlbenson

download the mod to your computer then upload it via package manager.

For some reason the web install isnt working.

Chopper

Sorry but i have very little knowlege of script

karlbenson

Sources/Subs.php

What you need to do is download it to your computer.

Then goto full reply here and under additional options, attach the file

Is that so? lol

you know you can access SMF from your web enabled cell phone in WAP mode dont you?

check some of the bigger SMF forums, and if you see a post with a tiny cellphone beside it, it was posted by someone accessing it from a mobile phone!
.... all I need is a noob with a dictionary :P

back to the topic, I think we can examine the buffer and either modify it, or abort the modifications to the post..I'll have to really dig into the code for a bit..

karlbenson

I'll look into it very soon, but since I've recently spent alot of time fixing up this mod, i've really need to fix bugs in other mods before I look at this one again.

a) I'd rather not be altering the buffer.
b) I don't want to be giving any error messages (as that would require adding language strings which is something I've been desperate to avoid in the mod).
c) I don't want to be limiting other mods.  so I only want the limit to apply to objects embedded by this mod.
