I know what an embed link is. It's not going to work if I paste the link into a message body.

Would you care to explain to me how I do it then? 
Since you know what embedded links are, then you would obviously know that you would have to put them in
[ html ]  tags then yeah?

Sabre™, I switched from phpBB in September and didn't know that html bbcode exists. Your rant was unnecessary - I didn't say you were lying as you assumed, I only said that the bare embed link being pasted in the message body doesn't work, which was true.

Well buddy, I had just stated that I use j'tv myself, so why not ask how if you didn't know, instead of saying that it wont work?
Remember this is a world wide site, so some things are misconstrued in translation.
I would have easily mentioned how(as I have) as that is why I replied, to offer a little guidance

With bbcodes, you will find a list in your admin panel.
Click on Posts and Topics then Bulletin Board Code.
You will also find various mods that offer other bbcodes eg. [ you ] bbcode from ccbtimewiz, which is one of my favs.
There is also a mod called.... if I recall correct, "Custom BBCode" in which you may create/add your own. The mod author hasnt updated it, but there are people who may assist with that.
Ask for assistance if you are not sure on anything mate, there are thousands of people here, so someone will pop in to help.

Aw crap.

I installed this mod and now my forum does not load at all. I get a blank screen. I did the 1.1.6 manual installation steps in reverse (removing the code snippets) and it still won't load.

Any ideas?

Did you check for duplicate codes and remove them buddy?
You should always make a backup of your forum as often as possible

A quick way is to go into your packages folder in your server, go to backups, then there should be a file which states something along the lines of "before Auto Embed Video/Audio Clips v4.0.2 (AEVAC Mod)"
Download that, then upload it to the root of your forum.
It will put everything back to how your forum was before you added this mod.
That means any other edits you have done after installing this(Im assuming none ), will be gone.

Always make regular backups of your forum mate. You never know what may happen

I had one last snippet of code that needed to be removed (found it using search). I got my forum back. I did do the "standard installation procedures."

I'd like this mod to work. So I'll try it again...

In my opinion, this is one of those mods that are a "must have" for any forum that allows media.

It certainly is possible to embed HQ playback. I have done so within Wordpress ...Would be lovely to get this working.

I need a prove on that. ... And as I mentioned, I got the message from Youtube forum that they don't allow it yet.

Scroll down to the bottom of hxxp:diabolo.ca/another-diabolo-triangle/ [nonactive] for an example in Wordpress. That's the highest quality .mp4 version of youtube embedded.

But, you are right, checking off the "high quality" option in this mod doesn't do anything as far as I can tell.

I tried to install

AEVAC_v3.1.2.zip

to my 1.1.6 and it displayed nothing. Just the link.

So, because the downlaod page doesn't say which of the zips to download, I removed the mod and installed:

AEVAC_v4.0.2.zip

Same thing.

So I rolled back my 1.1.6 update and took my board back to 1.1.5

Then I installed

AEVAC_v3.1.2.zip


Same thing.

So I installed

AEVAC_v4.0.2.zip

Same thing.

Nothing I have done made the mod work.

can anyone help,  having tried v2 and v3 all video sites work except liveleak in internet explorer,  all we get is a little flower logo in the middle of the screen showing something is trying to load.  everything works in firefox.   I presume it is a setting in IE.

Either version 3 or 4 should work, although 4.0.2 is beta.

Just stating the obvious, but did you enable the embedding under the AEVAC mod settings panel? "Enable AEVAC mod (Master Setting)"

Edit - got the high quality youtube working!!

The line:

was remaining in my 'Subs-Aevac-Generated-Sites.php' file. Either this line needs to be changed to match the high quality expression. i.e.:

Koodi [Valitse] Laajenna

'embed-movie' => http://www.youtube.com/v/$2&ap=%2526fmt%3D18&rel=0'
or that line can be deleted entirely provided that the high quality youtube option is selected.

Strangely, I went back, deselected some embedding websites, which regenerated my 'Subs-Aevac-Generated-Sites.php' file and this time it was generated without the

line, and everything works.

Easiest way to check if it's working is to look at the source code for a forum page with an embedded video. If there's a "&ap=%2526fmt%3D18&rel=0" at the end of the youtube link then it's high quality.
