I fully understand your position, but I would personally be immensely satisfied if the most important bugs could get fixed.

And I'm not talking about embedding this, or adding that, just fixing annoying bugs like the   thing and the video embedding inside quote (if you don't activate it in v4 then that topic page crashes - a feature that v3 unfortunately doesn't have which blocks a lot of topics).
I never saw that   issue. How do you provoke that error to happen?

video embedding inside quote  - like this: "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sO_hClrtpXo"? Doesn't give any error for me.
Edit: Ahh, you mean quoted messages!!

Installed ok, but one little problem.  I am getting this again in posts:
I am also having this problem, and also the big core files still. Would love to know how to fix this...

Same here.
And same here also with Me with the--->

Does anybody have a fix for the ( ) problem

A few people in this topic have posted about it, but so far nobody has posted a possible fix.

With Me and the others who posted about the ( ) problem this is what the problem is......

When members on my site submit a post the (&nbsp) code shows up in members post's. Today for example on my forums a member posted and he had ( ) showup after every sentance in his post.

Basically, the   thing comes up sometimes in quoted messages. I have no idea what's causing it, if it's related with UTF-8 or something else.

The fix for &nbsp is to go into censored words and add the string. Resolved all my issues with it.   Forum-->Posts and Topics-->Censored Words and add both &nbsp and

Very smart solution, thanks. ;)

Not really a solution. What version are we talking about? 3 or 4? Does anyone have a link to a post with the issue?

By the way I have been working on a beta 3.1.3 that adds links below videos and HQ playback also in version 3. I just need to find the 3.x topic to upload the files.

Yes, really a solution.  As I said, I had the issue for quite some time and this resolved it.  If you look at the thread I posted, it is specific to this mod as well.  The link to the post is right there.

Akyhne

I am working on a few modifications that makes HQ embed of Youtube videos possible. And an option to show a link to the source of the video.
I will upload it here once it is finished.

Not to the mod, no, but it is a workaround that works (e.g. working solution).

I'm quite sure I saw someone writing about this being an issue to version 3 as well. But I have a forum with hundrets of videos linked from Youtube and I never saw the issue.

I'm still using version 3 as V4 didn't work as it should.

And I would still like a link to a page where the problem is, as I would like to see the code behind.

Xaneth

Yeah I don't think the problem existed on V3, I didn't start seeing it until I upgraded to V4.

Here's a thread Karl was on that has some code recommendations in it:

http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=265441.msg1609998#msg1609998

Sorry, guess he was describing some other issues about Display.php, but he did say:

LainaaI've now uploaded v3.1 which I've spent a good deal of time last night and tonight working on.
I *think I've fixed all the issues.  Although the   bug I've not been able to completely replicate, but I've made some changes that I hope fix it.

If you're interested in the future of AEVAC, please read this post. Thank you.

I know I'm going to regret it, but I've decided to take over the AEVAC project, if no one is opposed to the idea. I would like to have Karl's official approval and I hope someone (Jade?) will transmit this message to him and ask for his advice. Thank you. (I would appreciate even more if he could share any additional code he has -- earlier private beta, external tools, etc.)

I will have to review all 15 pages of the topic, compile a list of things to fix and implement, and start reworking the mod to my own guidelines (I'm following as close as possible the official SMF coding guidelines, which I already apply to SMG). It will be slow because I'm still working on SMG, but I'll be sure to work on it. It may not be forever, either -- if I ever think the mod has reached a stable condition,

If anyone else would like to take over the job, please say it now. ;)

I only took over a mod once before -- Merge Double Posts, but it was unwillingly (and I'm still in denial). I'm willing to do the AEVAC job if it doesn't eat up too much of my time. I'm not going to spend my time researching new video websites -- I'll be more likely to eliminate sites from the list, to make it easier to handle.
If I get to inherit the code base and everything, things will be done according to my rules, so there's bound to be a few changes. I will implement more ties to the SMG project, etc. I may even rename it to AEVA or MAEVA (I never quite liked that "C"...) and skip to version 5 or reset to version 1, in order to make it clear the ownership has changed.
More importantly (but it's still in the air and may not happen anytime soon), I could very well drop SMF 1 support, because let's face it, supporting SMF 1 for SMG is a nightmare to me. 95% of bugs that happen during beta are due to the SMF 1 implementation (Dragooon and I just don't always have the time to test on a separate SMF 1 install). I would encourage anyone to switch to SMF 2 anyway -- it's mature enough. If only the SMF team could hurry up and release RC1...

I'm still unsure whether to host the project at noisen.com (my personal website, over which I have complete control), or smf-media.com (SMG's website, which has a fitting name, and a SVN client, but over which I have close to no control). I'll need the help of willing beta testers, who are ready to take the crap and bear with me being much, much less likeable and patient than Karl ever was.

It's not going to be pretty, but it's the only way I'll feel comfortable taking over. Thanks for reading.
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

I like what I hear.

If you need any help, then please let me know.

I think you should skip embedding of sites that doesn't allow it anyway. Why bother with the troubles it makes.

I would like to be a beta tester ........  that`s for 3 reasons

1.I like the mod and use it on my forum
2.You can test it on my 1.x forum
3.-The best one-  I can bear you   :D

That would be very sad, I hope you won't do this until a proper release of SMF2 is out.

Well, that depends on when the final release is out... And whether or not I get issues with SMF1 support. If I don't -- then we're good.

Thanks for stepping up Nao. I have some test forums (variety of 1.x and 2.x) that I can help beta test with. I've been using AEVAC since its early releases, and it has been the one mod my boards can't do without.

I won't be switching to SMF2 until Orstio releases a stable bridge upgrade for it (or announces he isn't going to) but this sounds fine to me anyway because I can stick with this version for now as the bugs are minor and only in new features from V3.

Thanks very much
