@qubbah> You're in the Aeva topic... SMG is right across the street ;) And btw, a physical file ID has nothing to do with the media ID... They're not related in any way. Except that they're linked together by the script.

I'd recommend Revver and Brightcove be added to the list.
Err okay...

LainaaThe feature currently does nothing for me.
Hmm, my mistake -- I was talking about the lookup feature, not the embeddable check.
I haven't looked into that yet. Will do it later.

Lainaa"Include the original link"> Works for me... What's the problem? The only thing I might change is the font size.

I don't care about this feature actually, but it doesn't work for me, at least not with Youtube, Revver, or Brightcove.
I think it's supposed to show the link only if the flash object doesn't provide it already... e.g., Youtube will never show a link, since you can click on the object to go to that page.
Also, the link is shown if Flash isn't installed on your browser.

As for thumbnails -- how about I implement Highslide on this, too? Basically, what I would do is: when you click on the thumbnail, it fires up an animation that will enlarge the video player. (Of course, it stays in the same page.)

Okay, I've got a preliminary beta version for Aeva 5.0 ready for release... I'll put it out in a few minutes. Hopefully you won't yell at me for not adding too much -- keep in mind that I've only taken over the project a few days ago, and I'm still in the process of learning to understand the code. Also, I'm very busy working on the final touches for SMG 1.5. And I'd like to have a life, too. Can anyone lend me one, please?
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

Wow. Great work. Thanks!
Done!
Released.

---------------------------------
v5.0 b1 - 29th November 2008
---------------------------------
* Karl Benson retired, and ownership was taken over by Nao [noisen.com]
* Mod was renamed to Aeva, because it sounds cooler, and that's a good reason
+ Added Popular Sites list - if you only want the links most likely to show up
! Fixed   bug
! Renamed install.php to aeva_install.php to avoid issues when calling the file directly
! Fixed Photobucket link
+ Added support for Divshare (currently only for audio files)
! The site list had several duplicate site IDs
* Overhauled parts of the Admin area template

I'll disappear for an hour... Just to make sure I get as many "It doesn't work!" messages as possible :) I like it when I screw up big time.

To any site admin looking around> How do I change the package id for future uploads? I changed it from <karlbenson:aevac> to <Nao:Aeva> (since it was renamed anyway...), and the uploader wouldn't accept it. I had to change the id back into the first one in package-info.xml... I can live with it, but if it's a matter of a couple of changes, I'm all ears :)

Good :)
Now, I just hope it will be flawless for SMF 1.x installs, too! (Unless you tried on these?)

It works great on 1.1.7!
Thank you for keeping up the great work!. And another thanks for you know what :)
You are the man! You made me pick up French again, just so I can get those Naologismes. You should be awarded the medal for QCCF (Quelque Chose la Culture de France)!
All hail Nao now!

Thanks much, Nao!

Justin.TV is a major webcasting site support for which I would like to see in AEVA.

And another inquiry: if you're intending to keep support for RuTube.ru (it's a Russian analog of YouTube), could you please fix regexp for it? It currently "understands" links that one can find within an embed code, but not URLs.

Xepernas

Great news tout ça.

I've tried AEVA on 1.1.7, but I still get the old ringu bug for the same youtube videos as before. In fact, it's not exactly the circle of death itself, but a "sorry the video is not available" message. Using AEVAC3 (instead of AEVA or AEVAC4) solves the problem.

This is the youtube video in question, if you want to test it :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6BRz-kJ2Zw

I haven't found out what makes some youtube videos work with AEVA/AEVAC4, and some others not. It's not related the embedding authorization, as you can see. For comparison, here is a video that AEVA and AEVAC4 embed without problem :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lou1qn7rQrM

Now, something else. Somebody has submitted that video in a post. The hosting site isn't on the list of AEVA/C supported sites.

http://www.mymediaplaylist.com/viewvideo/75/Family_Guy___Passion_of_the_Christ/

So I hereby officially suggest it.

okay guys, two things

- i made a bad fall an hour ago and badly hurt my hands, especially the righ tone. it hurts just to type so i'll try to keep it quiet for today until my hands feel better, i m currently typing with two fingers, can t access the numpad, lol, and pressing the shift key for a period is hard too uhhh... (ouch)
so please forigve me if i'm silent for he next few hours

- please submit your suggestiionns and bugs to aeva noisen com (fill in the periods will you), there is a child board there for site submission etc, you can even post as guest if you don t want to register an account, fine by me (it s only there to make submissions and bug reports more visible)

xenerpas and others, please repost at noisen, it'll be easier for me to handle every request
xenerpas can you pm me or post at noisen your website details, and if you could provide admin access and possibly ftp account, i d do my best to fix that bug -- if it happens in aeva 5 and not in aevac 3, then i know i want to fix it, i love a good challenge from tiem to time

thank you very much and sorry for not using tha shift key a lot and backspace and everything, i m ashamed but i can t help it for now... (ouch) (i m pathetic iknow) (stop looking at me liek that)

So I hereby officially suggest it.
And I suggest we do not include it - seems like a fairly new and under developed website. Put simply, it looks like crap.

nick09

Get those hands some ice; we don't need to lose any good fingers do we? :P

Nao 尚

nick> thanks :) don't worry, i don't want to make it look like i'm in need for a doctor, the fingers are fine, just the palms of my hands are scratched and their muscles are sore. i can press the shift key without hurting now. good thing... a few more hours and i'll be able to type uppercase characters as well, and i'll resume work. i will only have the sore muscles to deal with but it won't stop me from working. (do i look like i care more about programming than my own health? on a sunday, for crying out loud?? uh... i did say i needed a life.)

mark> haven't had a look at the site, but now you know where to discuss these questions :)

can't wait for these uppercase letters to come back to me! right now i'm looking like i'm discussing through msn, ughh...

Confirmed. This video doesn't work for me either, with the new beta5 version.

Thanks for the hard work Nao.

Akyhne

Try disabling HQ playback. It will probably remove the error. If it does, then it's a Youtube issue and not the mod.

Nao 尚

Yes, you're right, it doesn't work here either...

Quick fix: search in your generated sites file, around line 185, replace
'embed-hq-movie' => 'http://www.youtube.com/v/$2&ap=%2526fmt%3D18&rel=0',

With
'embed-hq-movie' => 'http://www.youtube.com/v/$2&fmt=18&rel=0',

This is only a quick hack. Should work, hopefully... (It does, for me.)
I have yet to understand why Karl url-encoded the "=" sign (%3D) while it should be left as it. As for "ap", I have no idea what it stands for... If only he could have documented his search... I'll look into it tomorrow, I'll try to devote my day to coding. (My hands' muscles are still strained, hopefully after tonight they'll be in better shape.)

Yeah, I found about it in my search for the mystery...

Well, it *does* seem that it works, for other videos.
I think I'm onto a clue... Could someone take some time to look into it?
The video that was given as an example does *not* provide a "Normal quality" link... It is only available in high quality. So, it made me think -- maybe Karl's method only works when there are several qualities available on the Youtube site. Maybe lower quality was recently dropped in favor of only higher quality vids, and the trick doesn't work anymore... But I did find a few blog posts dated from this month that give pretty much the same tip. So what? I dunno...
Youtube is definitely "the" website that will always get most of the attention in terms of Aeva support. So I definitely have to find a solution for this. Maybe I could add a lookup for Youtube vids, in order to find a "Higher quality" link... If it isn't to be found, we'll fall back to the normal link (which, in this case, is the HQ one).

I'm a bit lost when it comes to comparing video quality -- apparently, there are several video formats used on the Youtube site, such as the original low quality (don't know the exact number), 6 (high quality FLV), 18 (high quality MP4 with h264 vid and AAC audio), and then 22 (720p HD).

Hmmm, hang on... I just found this website:
http://www.webmonkey.com/blog/How_To:_Watch_YouTube_Movies_in_Full_720p_HD_Glory
It shows one of my test vids (well, it's one of the most popular Youtube HD vids so I'm not surprised I find it again!), with different embedding formats... Only, when I clicked on the video link, I got the HD version, and *no* link in the Youtube page... I reloaded the page, and I got a "Normal quality" link this time. Ohhhh, I'm not sure I'm going to like what I'll find out tomorrow when I try to fix this...!!

Okay, this conversation really should happen on the Aeva dev child board, here: http://aeva.noisen.com/dev/
Anyone willing to open up a new topic for this? I have to go now... Close to midnight here, and I'm waking up at 6. The good news is that I should be up and running in 8 hours tops. Then, time to hunt for bugs! ;D

(Why am I always talking about my life? Please tell me if that's annoying to you ;))
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

Just like on YouTube, is there any possibility of actually implementing the 'High Quality' and 'Normal Quality' links below the embed and have it so it changes the quality within the forum if a user clicks on either one?

weightman

LainaaQuick fix: search in your generated sites file, around line 185, replace

      'embed-hq-movie' => 'http://www.youtube.com/v/$2&ap=%2526fmt%3D18&rel=0',

With

      'embed-hq-movie' => 'http://www.youtube.com/v/$2&fmt=18&rel=0',

This made the example link posted here work on my site. This also seems to have corrected my problem with the "Check whether Youtube videos are embeddable" feature since a little message saying embedding is disabled comes up to the right of the non-working video now.

Thanks
