Nao, I understand your explanations of BBC and how using an [aeva] tag could allow custom options.

But I have to agree with Karl's philosophy (I'm not trying to put words in his mouth, this is just the basic line that I've gleaned) that forum users are inherently stupid and don't understand when their links won't embed without the tag.

So if you do add the ability to use the [aeva] tag, can you maintain the automatic embedding support? The mod is called Auto-Embed Video & Audio, if the use of a BBC tag were necessary, it wouldn't be automatic anymore.

Anyways, I wish you luck in continuing the development of AEVA[damn, I really want to add a C right here. Why? Why did you change it? Change is bad terrible vicious frustrating. ]. I'm sure you'll keep it popular.

And I really would like to see the mod support the major sites, with individual developers submitting the code for individual sites if necessary. That would be the easiest on you, as the developer, and for the mod itself.

And that's a matter of opinion. Auto-Embed Video & Audio Clips sounds better to me, and makes much more sense. Most of what gets embedded aren't full versions of videos/music, just clipped versions, or clips.

But alas, my point of humor has been turned into a serious discussion.

I have a few full weightlifting competitions and even a documentary embedded using this mod. These aren't clips! So, the name works better than clips since it is all inclusive.

Nao, any hope of a quick fix to the playlist bug?

(thus requiring
on posting, non-active links to be autolinked (so that lookups can be performed for <a> tags))

I would never just run a regex to match urls only in posts. because you could have alot of unintended consequences.  Well thats a lie actually, i did try to write one, however you'd need to write only to match
linked, non-linked, and ones that don't match intended non-linked ones (which is far to complex a regex for me). (other wise you'd end up matching image tags and potentially others added by mods).


Re Clips. IIRC I used the word Clips in the name of the name more for a legal than stylistic one.
When the mod was started there weren't really any sites with LEGIT full length episodes.
I just wanted to make it clear that it was embedding short clips rather than providing a means to embed warez films/tv. The mod was not intended to faciliate copyright infringement.
(these days you have to be really clear with this sort of stuff.  Its only this month that SourceForge is being sued in france for hosting p2p clients).

These days thankfully there are alot more legit content providers/corporations putting their content online.

Playlists no longer work in V5. The first video in the playlist embeds as a single unit and the navigation tools at the end don't show up.

As I said, it sounds to me like the mod didn't fully install or uninstall. There must be leftover code. Did you install other mods between the time you installed this one and uninstalled it?

I too have had a problem with this mod. I enjoy the way it works however 2 things happen while installed on our 1.1.7 Board.

The first is that when attempting to use the board search it usually comes back with a 404 error.

The second is that when attempting to post or preview a large forum post it will also error out as a 404. Sounds similar to what the last post is referring too. I have tried version 3.1.2 and also the 5.0 beta but the results are the same.

Our board is quite modded but the package install goes fine. It does generate core files when the error occurs when I check via ftp. Not sure what I can provide that would be of value to help sort this.

@TeaTephi> using the html tag is not always allowed everywhere, and it might be a security issue... This is one of the reasons why Aeva is there in the first place. I will work on Playlist.com later.

This week I'll be trying to do as much work on Aeva as possible. Please help me by posting your messages on http://aeva.noisen.com (one of its child boards, to be specific), instead of here. I do read the messages here, but they're lost in the mountain of backlog I have to read, while I try to make sure I honor every request over at noisen.com (I can leave each and every question in its own tab, for me to study later.)

Also, if you're experiencing a bug, please do specify whether you tried with Aevac 4.x as well, and whether it worked or not. (I don't think I made enough changes to Aeva(c) to consider I added new bugs, though...)

BTW, I added support for the aforementioned mpora.com -- I'm starting to get the hang of it. Yippie. Have to answer Karl's PM, too... W00t.
