Jagur> what error? If it says "external embedding disabled", it's only natural that nothing will embed... Check out the original page on Youtube. If it says "embedding disabled by request" in the embed link, it's a video that can only be viewed on youtube...

KMJ had such iterative version numbers, in the last versions (2001 and later): 16.00, 16.42, 17.00, 17.01, 17.02, 17.21, 17.24, 18.00, 18.42, 18.75, 19.00, 19.75, 19.80, 19.99, 20.00, 21.00/2006/1.0, 21.20/2006/1.2, 21.21/2006/1.21, 21.42/2006/1.42, and 21.47 (unreleased). I'm absolutely not kidding you. I tried a version number reboot back in 2006 as you can see, but since then I've decided that should I release additional version, they'll be numbered 21.xx and 22.xx again.

Anyway--I always try to be logical with version numbers. The most popular ways of numbering a version are: (1) 1.0, 1.01, 1.02, 1.09, 1.1, 1.11, 1.2, 1.21... (2) 1.0, 1.0.1, 1.0.9, 1.0.10, 1.0.11, 1.1.0, 1.1.21, etc... The second case is the only case where a "3.2" could be less than "3.12", but again, that would need to be 3.x.2 vs 3.x.12.

Nao: I've never had a problem uninstalling previous versions but I get an error with Karl's last release. I want to upgrade from 4.0.2 to 5.0.18 but I'm scared of going ahead with the errors.

I'm not sure... Your install package seems to be corrupted...?
Try to redownload it from the mod page, and upload it to your Packages folder manually. Make sure it has the same filename as the previous one.

I just put AEVAC_v4.0.2.zip in the Packages folder, it was the same filename as the previous. I'm still getting that message

I did change dimensions of YouTube but I just copied over the default Sites Generated file and it didn't make a difference.

Mark, modification parse error is usually down to either

- package dir/temp dir created with insufficient chmod permissions
- compression on the package
- corrupt package

Last two can be tested by
Delete the package, then download new copy of it from mod site, and re-upload (without using package servers).  Then try again.

I tested this Mod v5.0.18 today on SMF 1.1.7, I tried to play local FLV and AVI format video files. But it can't work.

I read the readme.txt but no instructions for local files.

Where should I upload the local video files to make it embedable for this Mod?

Weird... even though I set /Packages/ dir, and everything inside it, to 777, the only way that fixed the problem was using the "Cleanup Permissions" feature and clicking "All files are writable.".

I also found out about a possible issue being with PHP Safe Mode enabled. Disabling it might help sometimes.

Anyway, are many websites that are working with the same script and have the same format. Maybe, someone else will need that code for other websites too, and changes only the domain

Err, yes... You can always do the embed pattern yourself -- and then use it on your board and share it with your friends who have a SMF board.
And when it's popular enough, just come back and I'll add the code to the default version. That's how it works *for now*. Karl's policy -- and I'm following it.

And with this, I think I've put an end to the list of bugs inherited from v4.0 and v3.0...
I will remove the downloads for these older versions soon because they're buggy and v4.0 has a security issue (although it can't be exploited "as is").

I strongly recommend that you all update to v5.0.21!

Nice job! It looks like it is playing high quality version of videos when available now from youtube, even with the formerly problematic videos listed here. However, the " Fix uses of the embed HTML with an embeddable link" feature still does not work for me and I couldn't make the embed local file feature work either, with an .avi. I attached the file and posted a direct link to it in the post with no resulting embed. Something else I need to do?

It won't work for existing embedded html.
This is only done on POSTING.

If that is the case. What exact code are you trying to embed?

Have you re-saved the settings in the admin. to re-generate the definitions file?
