Can you show me your link on your test topic, again...?
Yes you need to enter the Youtube page's URL. Even the embed code is fine.
Are you using Aeva 5.0.21?
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

@Phat> These settings are basically the same as mine... And video links work great on noisen.com... And for everyone else, apparently. You must have an issue on your server. What does the message say if you try to re-edit it after it failed to show up correctly?

Phat^Trance, in the topic where your posting that,

are there already 12 videos on that page.  If so then that link WON'T embed.

Same if there are more than 12 videos in any one page.

New version!

Version 5.1.25                                 20th December 2008
-----------------------------------------------------------------
* Updated to 5.1 after all bug fixes were found to be working fine
* Replaced fetch_web_data calls with an optimized aeva_fetch function
which should work even better on Safe Mode servers -- hopefully
* Moved some of the code from Subs.php to Subs-Aeva.php
* A couple of minor optimizations in the admin area
* If test lookup in admin area doesn't work, try an external fetch
! Fixed embed code fixer (?) for YouTube
! Reverted BBC News behavio(u)r back to something usable
! TagTele had some question marks on UTF-8 pages
+ Added support for Facebook video
+ Added support for OffUHuge
+ Added support for Joost

5.0.18
Nao, why are links appearing below YouTube videos? I thought those didn't need links because you can click on the video?

Nao 尚

They shouldn't appear... (?)
Unless you enabled the option in the admin area that allows you to always put the link.
And please use v5.1.25, it has some important bug fixes :)

Hmm, I have no original link appearing below the videos. I even don't know where to enable it!

If it's the option "Include the Original Link
(for sites that don't have it in the player)"
..then it's not even working for me.

Akyhne

Besides... when will the languages be added?

mark7144

Nao: Installed latest version and no longer have link issue.

Suggestion: Can I just strongly recommend that for YouTube you have a feature in the admin CP that allows you to choose wide screen or not. At the moment I have to manually change the dimensions to 540x344 every time I upgrade. I'm noticing more and more videos now suiting wide screen much better than the square box.

Nao,

The fix uses of the embed html feature still doesn't work.   :(

xkiller213

someone help me! somehow i can't get FLVs to be embedded... although i have selected the check box beside FLV in Embed Local Files...

unless it does not work? as in... do I need to upload it to my own server or can i just like use a file host like filenanny?

coz my web host only allow files up to 6mb... but the video file is 11mb...

@akyhne> Re: links, they only appear if the website's flash player doesn't allow you to visit the original page. Also, links are hidden if a lookup forces the generation of a link that doesn't lead to any web page (such as BBC News and BBC IPlayer).

@akyhne> Re: languages, I'm not including language files in the Aeva package until further notice. My goal is to have a ready-to-use experience when you're installing the new version. For that reason, I can only include language files that I update myself (i.e. English and French). That's the reason why I have a whole board dedicated to translations at Noisen... ;)

@mark1744 and anyone interested in widescreen/HD YouTube> This is planned for the future [aeva] tag, but recently I've been thinking about it and I'm wondering whether I could/couldn't do all (most?) of the features by adding a simple # next to the link, as for the #noexternalembed that Karl devised originally. I have yet to think about it. As for automatic widescreen implementation, it IS definitely possible, as widescreen videos have a "isWidescreen" variable in the code. That will require a lookup, though. But I can do it for Youtube to search for both Widescreen and HD support. I'm currently researching the best way to implement these. (I need to find a way to differentiate normal/high/HD qualities. Youtube currently has a isHD or something, but it doesn't say much more.)

@weightman> Are you sure? The link you provided works fine on Noisen.com....?

@xkiller> please provide us with a link to your topic where you posted the FLV link. I can't help you otherwise.

Nao,

Yea, I tried three different youtube embed codes and no luck.

EDIT

Could it have something to do with the "Fix Message Empty Error For Embed Video Mods" mod of Karl's? Is that mod still necessary to avoid that error?

Awesome! I didn't realise you could potentially have it automatically detect wide screen appropriate videos. :D

However, I still think it would be good to have an admin override so that all YouTubes are in wide screen. After all, YouTube.com use wide screen format for everything so there will come a point where normal square embeds feel wrong to the user.
