Hi..! I have just installed Aeva 5.1.47 yesterday and works fine with me.

My Settings :

Note : My default settings on Embed Local Files was all disabled but I noticed there is a check on Windows Media File (.wmv/.wma) after attaching .wma file on the Additional Options shown below.

My apologies, I was not aware I could not attached such file on this option.

When I try to remove the check on Embed Local Files and then save, the output is totally blank page as in like this image below. So far, I got the same output when I click Aeva Sites via Admin --> Features and Options --> Aeva Sites.

Can anybody teach me how to fix this one..?

Thanks in advanced...!

BTW, I used SMF 1.1.7 & TP v0.9.8.

Added Subs-Aeva-Sites.zip file...!

- Launch your ftp client, go to your Sources folder, download the Subs-Aeva-Sites.php file (please attach it on this topic, because I thought this problem was fixed), and then delete the file from your website.
- Go to the Aeva Admin area, it should work now. You can force the re-download of a proper Subs-Aeva-Sites.php file by putting ";fvt" at the end of the URL.

Nao, I still can't open it. :(

Fixed...
This was due to your server not allowing its own scripts to fetch data on itself.
This is the second time it happens to me. First time, I fixed it by adding a secondary fetch (to my own site this time). Now, your server doesn't even give an answer -- as if a firewall was very uncooperative somewhere. Bad host.

Starting from next version, I'll be querying google.com/robots.txt instead. I think Google won't mind that a robot script retrieves a file meant only for robots. Of course, applying this to your site made it work immediately... But you should ask your host to check their firewall and DNS settings as well. You may experience failed lookups on some websites, for the same reasons (bad configuration). I don't know.

Nao: Why does giving a CSS class to urls stop your mod from working?

The addition of "class=postlink" made all embeds show as links:
array(
'tag' => 'url',
'type' => 'unparsed_content',
'content' => '<a class="postlink" href="$1" target="_blank">$2</a>',
'validate' => create_function('&$tag, &$data, $disabled', '$data = strtr($data, array(\'<br />\' => \'\'));'),
),
array(
'tag' => 'url',
'type' => 'unparsed_equals',
'before' => '<a class="postlink" href="$1" target="_blank">',
'after' => '</a>',
'disallow_children' => array('email', 'ftp', 'url', 'iurl'),
'disabled_after' => ' ($1)',

Because it's not the default SMF behavior.

Try to put the class="post" mention AFTER the href="$1" mention, though. It should work, because Aeva only looks for <a href="". Not sure about the autolinking code though.

That worked, thanks :)

I notice the links produced by your mod have unique CSS classes depending on the video source... does that mean if I want to give a class to all links produced by your mod, I have to create a class for every video website I have enabled?

mark7144

BUG: Original link is not showing for Google Video and BrightCove, possibly more but I have not checked others.

Nao 尚

- links: indeed, Google Video didn't have a 'nolink' entry at all in earlier versions. It's the only site not to have it, so it should be good now. As for BrightCove -- do you have example links? I do see that the link showing is disabled, but isn't this because the original link can be reached through clicking in the embedded video?

- class: I'm not sure what you mean... Where do you see custom classes?

No that is not the case, clicking the video does nothing. Example video on my forum.

For example, the class for the original BBC link is "bbc_link new_win".

Yeah, but it's not always about clicking the video, it's about being able to find the original URL... Fact is, if you click the "get link" button on that video, you get the exact same link as what's being treated. And if you go to that link -- guess what? Just the video, nothing else. So, what's the point in linking to exactly the same thing as what's already embedded? I can understand that Karl didn't link to it. And I won't do it either.

LainaaFor example, the class for the original BBC link is "bbc_link new_win".
But... These are classes added by SMF. What do you mean? Do you mean they're changed? Where? Can you please paste some code here...?

Okay I'm writing a separate post because I need to have as many users as possible read it.

About YouTube changes & HD

- Yes, I implemented HD today :)

- It would seem that YT made some changes recently to their player. Namely, they show an "HQ" icon in the bottom right corner. If you go close to it, it opens the arrow button. So it's only a way to catch our attention on the fact that they added a HQ button to switch on/off the HQ mode. Unfortunately, it's doesn't work very well... Most notably when viewing the video in HD mode, clicking that button will only reset the video and not change anything. What do you think I should do? I couldn't find a way to disable that button.

- Regarding HD, the video I linked above is in 854x504 (that's approximately the size of an HD embed in YouTube, couldn't find the exact dimensions). Unfortunately, my website, being limited in width, doesn't show the whole width, so it shows black bars. This doesn't bother me at all, but since the official YouTube embed code for HD video is in 640x385 (i.e. exactly the same size as HQ video), maybe I should keep it... Also, it would make my life easier when it comes to implementing HQ size selection (I'm not sure how to do this for now).

Any opinions...?

Nao,

It seems like it might not be a good idea to default to playing HD versions of videos when available because of those with slow internet connections. So, maybe a button to view it in HD after it opens in normal or HQ mode?

There's no way to view a video in HD via the YT buttons, I believe... Or at least it's not easy to control, I don't know...
Slow connections, I agree, it's not cool and everything, but you can still disable the aeva_hq setting if your users aren't happy with it... Can't you?
Hopefully I'll be able to include this as a per-user setting in the future. (I don't know when I'll be able to do that. Main problem is that it requires more edits to the SMF files, and I promised myself not to do any more edits for some time. Because I hate doing package installations as much as you all do.)
What about the embed size?

Because someone might want to post the video on another forum and not have to send people to a forum to see it but instead the direct location.

Sorry if I'm not being very clear on this but I simply want to assign a class to all links produced by your mod, is that possible?

Currently on my website the link that is generated for the BBC embed has "bbc_link new_win" but on your website all video links seem to have the class of "xt".

Example post where bbc class is added

weightman

Nao,

What exactly is HD anyway according to youtube? Is it just a higher bitrate? How different is it from the HQ? Enough to worry about given that probably a low % of population has super fast connections to handle true HD? As for embed width, seems like that is not a problem since we can put a max on it in the css.

Hi Nao 尚, good day...!

I've already followed your instructions siR...!

I got this result after doing so...!

I've already attached Subs-Aeva-Sites.php file on my post above...!

You can force the re-download of a proper Subs-Aeva-Sites.php file by putting ";fvt" at the end of the URL.

What do you mean siR, I'm sorry but I just can't get what you say.

BTW, is it okey to replace those deleted file from my previous download? I mean I will get that file from the extracted Aeva-5.1.47.zip (SMF Mod Site) and upload it via my ftp..?

@akyhne> 480 without counting the interface itself. It's 504px overall. What do you mean you don't have black bars? Screenshot please?

@mark> but then they can simply click on "get link"... What's wrong with "get link"? It's large enough to be obvious...
>again: what links are produced by my mods? You're talking about the links below the videos? I could add an extra class to them, yeah.. Something like "aeva_link"... It wouldn't be defined anywhere, but it could help you style it.

@weightman> HD is higher bitrate, higher resolution, x264 encoding (I think -- so it's a more efficient codec than flv), and better sound quality (CD-like?). I don't think HQ is half as good as HD in that respect. Embed width *is* an issue because of the black bars on site layouts that don't accept such large widths. Don't forget -- half of the web community is still browsing in 1024x768. So, take a 850px-wide video, add two 200px-wide columns around, and you get the infamous horizontal scrollbar. Or, if you have a completely fixed column width for where you're posting your video, you'll get a video that is needlessly too tall.

@ysNoi> err... That's a strange thing. I'll need admin access + FTP access if you're still having the issue. Can you get the site list to show up normally if wmv embedding is enabled?
