Looks like the majority of my Brightcove embeds predate this mod and are embed codes. Here is an example:

You have to edit your .css script somewhere so the videos show besides each other. Then you can watch in 3D

You're mixing it up. But Aeva *can* support websites that only provide Divx. It did support Stage6 fine (and I was using it) until they closed their doors... That doesnt really answer my question..lol. I need to know what the differences are. If I dont care for them, or if they will not benefit my site, then I 'm not going to go through all the headache of changing to a newer version since this one does not have any bugs in it and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. I cannot compare the differences myself because you removed all his versions and the changelogs that were on the mod page.

You don't risk losing anything. A great care has been put into making Aeva 5.x better than Aevac 3.x in every respect. So you won't lose anything, it's like you're the casino this time

While I can understand that "great care" has gone into making the changes you have made, a simple "no, there is no upgrade option" - would have been sufficient  - no need for the dramatics.

Oh yes Aevac 3.x does have its share of bugs... The nbsp bug, the No embedding in quotes bug (500 error crash galore on PHP 5.2.x), lots of minor sites are no longer working because they closed down or changed their embedding code (I'm fixing them as I find them), and probably some other things I can't think of right now...

The changelog is still there... Download v5.2 and open the changelog.txt file. You'll see a full changelog starting from v4.0.

Nope. But you can uninstall yours, install the new one, and if it doesn't work, uninstall it, then reinstall v3... As long as you don't click on "Delete" next to v3, you can reinstall it as much as you like.

Yeah... But generally speaking, I have a hard time understanding the reason for me to convince people to upgrade. I mean, if you're happy with v3, keep using it. Then one day you'll stumble upon a site that uses v5, and you'll think, "how is he doing that? It's cool!", and then you'll install v5. You might just want to do it now. But it's none of my business really. I myself keep using a lot of outdated programs that I like better than their more recent versions (Paint Shop Pro 7 has all of the features I need, and it loads in less than a second, as opposed to PSP X and up.) It's free in every sense. You're free to keep it, free to upgrade, and it's free to keep. I have nothing to sell.

The major improvements must be HQ video (who wants to look at LQ!!), and for some the ability to use HD and widescreen as well.

I wasn't mentioning what I added, but what was *fixed* between v3 and v5
All I could think of was the bugs I fixed when I started working on Aeva. I don't remember what Karl fixed by himself between v3 and v4.

I think Kimmie is asking what his users will get out of an upgrade. The HQ playback of Youtube is reason enough to upgrade. Then for his own sake: A complete admin part where he can easily adjust a lot of settings and parameters without having to code in the files to change this and that.

It should also be mentioned that NAO rewrote a huge amount of code to make it more stable, easier to change things, smaller files/code to speed things up.

I know some people are wondering why NAO is using time on saving 20kb here and there. But even with todays high speed internet connections, you can still feel the difference. The bottleneck is not only your connection speed, but also the browsers speed.

Are you sure you're actually trying to embed HD (or HQ) widescreen stuff...? Because if they aren't HD/HQ/WS on the YouTube page, they won't be either on your site... Aeva is not a magic trick, really.
Test with more videos.

Well, at youtube, some/most new videos have the option, to watch normal or HQ.

So, I was thinking your code would then embed the HQ version of it...  (usually has &fmt=18 or something, if one manually want to watch)

The embed code from youtube itself, or the link without any "&fmt=18" is not HQ.

And neither is acually any youtube video in itself when embedded, only on youtube page I've seen it work, both HQ and widescreen

For example :

That link shows you HQ video, as well as widescreen...


But if you embed it on your own webpage (using youtube code), its not shown in HQ or widescreen...But rather the old dull square player

I tried with and without the &fmt=18 link in the video.

Of course it won't appear in widescreen, because it's not in widescreen in the first place.
See the black bars on the right and left of the video? That's 4/3. Just view the source code and search for "isWidescreen". If it says "true", then it's widescreen. Otherwise it's not. Pretty simple... I told you, Aeva's not a magician. It just does what YouTube tells it to do.
You can force the video to show up in a widescreen embed by adding #ws at the end, but it'll only add black bars, nothing interesting.
You can force *all* videos to show up in widescreen*, but I don't see the point. YouTube is forcing all videos in widescreen mainly to encourage users to upload widescreen content, I think. And/or to have a similar layout on all pages. Aeva only embeds videos in your posts -- you don't need a similar layout on all pages?

* See Subs-Aeva-Custom-Example.php and just use 'normal' instead of 'ws' in the example...

Well you must have been incredibly lucky...
I'd say about 75% of all current YT videos are only available in LQ.

runebergen: The guy who did the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hr0Wv5DJhuk&fmt=18
video, made a 16/9 video  in 4/3 format (with black bars in top/buttom. Because Youtube now shows all videos in a widescreen embedding, you suddently also have black bars on the right and left side of the video. So the right/left black areas are really not part of the video you linked, just some black embedding space, whereas the black in top/buttom of the video IS a part of the video.

So you will have to blame the author for not making the video correct.

In version: 5.1.42 it embeds as expected - in HQ.
