"Ultimate Profile"??? that's not a SMF mod, is it? So if it isn't and it's not part of SMF, AEVA will have no effect on the video and it will be mebedded in normal quality.

Ultimate Profile is a SMS mod yes...  a very good one if I may add :) Makes profile pages like Myspace-ish, add friends, comments etc.  http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=183574.0

And AEVA sure has an effect, without the mod, the profile comments will only show a Youtube LINK.. .:)

It auto embeds the video, but in LQ...  unlike in forum posts, where its HQ... (because of the difference you pointed out earlier)

&ap=%2526fmt%3D18&rel=0&fs=1

This part of the embed code does NOT show up in profile comments for some reason

The mod takes no effect to AEVA or the Youtube mod.

With AEVA, you only post the Youtube link, not the embed link.

runebergen

Yes.. :)

In the comment part, all that is posted is a YouTube LINK... correct..

And without Aeva it doesnt get embedded at all (only shows a link)

So its Aeva that auto embeds it at the profile comments, just very differently from a forum post (where it will be HQ)

Akyhne

No, AEVA adds the embed code to Youtube links in posts, not in profile comments.

The guy of the mod is not afraid of peoples servers if he allows to add html code. What if you write <h1>Hello World</h1> in a profile comment? Will it then be a H1 heading of "Hello World"?

runebergen

Ok, I've found it

When you post a NORMAL youtube link at the FORUM POST, it somehow gets rewritten to this AUTOMATICALLY, one can see it if one press "Modify Post"

[url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjJJwnfHyYc#hq]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjJJwnfHyYc#hq[/url]

Notice the end there :

#hq

This I did NOT add when posting it at forum, it got added automatically...

And this part does NOT get added at a profile comment post...

If I post a YouTube video at profile comment WITH that part  (notice the end)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjJJwnfHyYc#hq

It WILL show in HQ at profile comment too :)

So the question is, how to one get that part AUTO added to profile comment Youtube links posted too ?

No, AEVA adds the embed code to Youtube links in posts, not in profile comments.

What you mean by that?
If I disable AEVA, the profile comments does NOT auto embed YouTube URLs posted... Not at all. Only shows a link

As soon as I enable AEVA , the profile comment urls will be auto embeded as a YouTube player...

So sure it works, just not in HQ '

At least using Ultimate Profile

Lainaa@weightman> this Google Video doubling stuff is strange... I'll investigate. BTW what is it with your strange videos??!

What do you mean? The content of the videos in question or the link structures? The brightcove ones are not a big deal. They aren't even supposed to work anymore but apparently Brightcove forgot to delete them. I have backups of everything and can set them up on my own server when necessary. In the meantime, I don't need to embed them anywhere so you can just not worry about it if you want. But, Brightcove, when free, provided numerous types of video players for embeds, each with different codes and links.

On the google video doubling up, I have no idea. I didn't make the video....

That is a beta mod with numerous bugs and with no author support in a long time, right? I played with it for a while but it has far too many problems. My guess is the problem is within that mod.

Re: Ultimate Profile showing LQ links...
Okay, I see what you mean. I'll have to go through all of the posts I missed here, but this is something I didn't think of when I reworked the YouTube embed to include HD.

Basically, what Aeva used to do was:
- whether # is found or not, go with the admin's favorite way of showing YT vids (LQ/HD)

What it does now is:
- when posting the link, look it up, and make sure HQ is supported.
- if yes, then add #hq after the link. Also add "ws" and "hd" if supported.
- if not, then just add # without anything.
- Aeva will then review the link, see that "hq" is not there, and send non-HQ embed code.

Okay, now, on to Ultimate Profile. If you post a comment (and it's the same pretty much on every mod that allows you to post data, even my very own SMG when you post a YT link to embed or a comment), aeva_onposting() is not called. So, no # is added. YT has a "raw" link. Thus, when embedding the video, Aeva thinks that either lookups are disabled (and it stays on the safe side, i.e. no HQ, no WS), or that HQ is not supported at all. ---> LQ embed FTW.

What can be done about this...?

- I don't know.
- I really don't.
- Okay, maybe I can do something...
- You can do it yourself, though. You can simply add #hq-ws next to your link ;)
- That would be the quick solution.
- Otherwise, hmm... I don't know... Maybe I could simply make a page-wide preg_match to find unmodified YT URLs (i.e. URLs without the "#" sign), and attempt to look them up. That would be the best solution, because it also means that all links will be embedded correctly as soon as you reload the page.
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

Aeva Media rocks your life.

I should stop it with my fantasies over doing some page-wide preg_match... Crap. It's faster and geeky and everything, but I can't really afford to look up every link, including non-video links...

What I should do, instead, is to check links right before embedding them. If they don't have a # in them BUT they have a 'lookup' value associated to them, it MEANS that the onposting process should be called again. Oh, that's a much more efficient method... I'll start work on it right now.

NAO: What can be the issue with no HQ in 5.2.52 that I have?

hehehehe :D :D :D

Sounds good ;)

"You can do it yourself, though. You can simply add #hq-ws next to your link" could be done with some preg stuff..

But if you're working on a fix, it would be quite better ;) For any mods that allow post.

But I see what is happening now, and thanks for the good explaination

Would also like to post a GREAT GRATITUDE for your mod!

Embedding all these sites automatically is just fantastic...  And for my own forum, being music oriented, its heaven sent.

And god damn those HQ youtube videos rules!!  ;)) Far better sound...

Thanks a lot for doing this mod

Btw, hope I dont get killed for all the posts here...  lol..

On the widescreen thing..  Could it be possible to implement a feature for that?

"Force Show Youtube WideScreen" Yes/No option... so to speak, in admin

(I mean regardless of the content... as a player. It just looks better and more "modern")

This code will do what I mean (although there might be some switch for zoom, that I dont know, for filling the screen)

[url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjJJwnfHyYc#hq-ws]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjJJwnfHyYc#hq-ws[/url]

This code inside the URL tag makes the player go wide..
#hq-ws

Well, I just have a tiny little problem...

There's no way I can know where the original message is stored. (Ouch!)
So, in the end, there are only four solutions:

- either add the embed options by yourself,
- or ask the mod's author to add a call to aeva_posting after a test to see whether Aeva is enabled* (that would be the best solution -- I'll make sure to do it everywhere in SMG),
- or do the modification on these custom mods yourself -- we'll have to work together and compile a list of all mods that require the change, then we'll post the actual changes somewhere over at aeva.noisen.com.
- or have Aeva look the URLs up *every time* you actually VIEW the page... (Ah, ah! Funny one!)

Well, I wasted half an hour on such a stupid idea. Sorry for bringing you some hope where there wasn't any in the first place.......  :-[ Oh, at least I fixed something else in the process, which I wouldn't have noticed otherwise. (The "src" parameter for QuickTime videos was not at the right place. Did anyone ever try to embed a local MOV video? I guess it didn't work...?)

* This call obviously only needs to be made on content that will later be parsed through parse_bbc().

No, because I find it silly (sorry). But since it has also been requested several times, it can be done in the Custom file. Just do $sites[$si]['size']['normal'] = $sites[$si]['size']['ws']; when the id is "ytb" (YouTube). Save, regenerate, and you're done.

Lainaa(I mean regardless of the content... as a player. It just looks better and more "modern")
I don't see why. People have been complaining for years about black bars on the top and bottom of widescreen videos on 4/3 TV sets... Now they're complaining that they don't have useless black bars on their widescreen sets? ;)

Brightcove just sent me an email saying all embeds from their free service will be disabled on 1.31. So, no point in wasting your time with them although Brightcove will still have embeds from corporations and stuff (very expensive service now).

hehe.. yeah, no problem at all :D

But your custom file, its supposed to override right?

Made a Subs-Aeva-Custom.php with this code... but doenst change anything

foreach ($sites as $si => $te)
{

if ($te['id'] == 'ytb')

$sites[$si]['size']['normal'] = $sites[$si]['size']['ws'];

$sites[$si]['size']['hq'] = $sites[$si]['size']['ws'];

$sites[$si]['size']['hd'] = $sites[$si]['size']['ws'];

}
