Neo,

I think that's it.  The URL is www.currentsite.mysite.com [nofollow] rather than www.currentsite.com.  I need to figure out how to change this.

Neo,

I think I'm right on this however I'm running into an issue.  If I change it back to www.mysite.com [nofollow] either in the admin section or in the settings.php it gives me a blank page when I go to the forum after it's changed.

Also, when I look at the current installations of SMF I have two:

mysite.com/forum (1.1.7)    Visit site   Remove
currentsite.mysite.com/forum (1.1.7)    Visit site   Remove

I think this is one of the reasons it is going blank but I'm not sure which one I should remove!?!?

Thoughts?

I removed the Brackets [ so the link does not work so you could see what was posted

this is where it sends me on my forum

AEVA does only support .flv video on Photobucket as far as I can see. NAO will probably have to work on that format, if possible.

Nao 尚

Never used photobucket, wouldn't know. I'm a bit busy right now.

Akyhne, I'm Nao, not NAO. Ryangrhun, I'm Nao, not Neo. Everyone, I'm Nao, not God. Can't solve every problem out there. Doing my best, but today's been hectic... What's this? There's been like 4 pages worth of talk, and I've barely been able to scratch the surface... I don't even remember who got what problem etc. I'm not sure whether people have real problems due to bugs in the new Aeva, or problems due to their servers, or problems that have been there since earlier Aeva's. I've got plenty of PMs and I don't remember who's who and what I should do for whom.

w00t!

So let's make it simple:

If you currently have an issue with Aeva, please open a new topic (you don't have to register an account) over at http://site.noisen.com/aeva-support/ --> this will be WAY easier for me to deal with every problem individually. Okay? I'm not forcing anyone to do it, it's just -- well, it'll make my life easier.
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

?
I'm not in a bad mood... I'm just overwhelmed with the high number of posts. I need to have these sorted. How should I ask for it?

It's not your request, but your name. Does it really matter if I write NAO or Nao. If you knew how many writes akhyne, akyne etc..

Best suggestion yet.  Ticketing systems, even if they are just forums, make things much simpler.

I don't care that your call me Nao or NAO... I just say it's how I write it. My real name is René-Gilles Deberdt. Sometimes I see people spell it René Gille Debert or something. I'm used to spelling it out lol... But Nao, that should be simpler to spell, right? ;)
I just wanted to make a joke with NAO/Neo/God... Oh well!

@Everyone> I'll have a look at all the new topics today, of course.... ;)

On the google video doubling up, I have no idea. I didn't make the video....
Found it... You still had an AEVAC 3.x leftover installed in your Subs.php. It triggered AFTER Aeva's embedding process, and turned the raw link (which is supplied below the embedded video) into yet another video.
I removed the leftover code and it works now.

Please everyone -- uninstall your older versions when you install a new one...

Also, weightman, regarding your opinion on Ultimate Profile: no, it's not the "culprit" here. Although I'm not too fond of how it's laid out (as a coder, I like clean and well-indented code), it's still a very nice mod, and it shouldn't be accused of everything and anything.
Aeva is a complicated mod that requires some attention when it comes to compatibility with other mods. As you may have noticed, I posted patches for SMG and UP. Obviously the SMG patch will be available in the following release. As for UP, I can't force JovanT to update his mod with it. Users will have to be vocal about it over at the official UP topic.

I posted my "official" code for embedding Aeva lookups into comments.

Its an extremely nice mod, and huge part of the success we have had at our website.
Users LOVE the myspace ish profile, where one can comment, add buddies, post more info etc etc.. ;)

And thanks for adding Avea to it :)

Nao 尚

(Completely OT)

All in all, yeah it's a great mod because it was the first, and it's still the only one. There was a real need for this.
But...
I don't like their buddy system -- it could be improved upon.
Basically, it could have several "buddy levels", as well as not requiring to have both members agree on being buddies before they show up as linked. For instance, if I'm a fan of someone, why should they need to add me to their buddies? And why should I wait for them to "accept" me? I'm just a fan! I don't need acceptance. I just want to say I'm a fan of said user. See? Things like that. It's one of the reasons why I'm currently changing my website to use a more elaborate buddy system.
The media box, to me, is an incentive to add stupid videos. I'm not sure this is the right place for that.
And the whole CSS stuff -- well, it's really nice to give freedom to users. But you've already browsed MySpace, haven't you? You know how it ends up... Everyone takes a flashy background and no one can read the actual text in the profile. In the end, I added css rules for MySpace to disable their custom backgrounds. Of course, it's always hard to determine what level of freedom you want to give your users. And I'm probably too conservative on this. But have a look at Facebook: they don't need the custom css stuff to be popular. People just need to be in power. Having the ability to redecorate is just one part of it.

Nao, thank you for that very much. But, I am 95% sure I never installed a new version of AEVA without uninstalling the old version. Isn't it possible that installing other mods in between the install and uninstall caused the code to be left behind?

In no way was I attacking the mod. I tried to use it but ran into problems pretty quickly (crashed my site). It is good but has problems and the mod author wasn't around for a long, long time last I checked. I hope it matures to the point where it is safe and secure.

I don't think so. Do you remember getting any warning before uninstalling?
Anyway, it wasn't a big deal. Just some very old leftover. It was certainly already there when I did some work on your website a couple of months ago. I just didn't notice it.

I still don't know if he's around. He certainly hasn't released a new version for a long time. I couldn't blame him for that, though -- sometimes you just want to share your work, not get all of the support work that comes with it. You don't expect it.
I knew what I got into when I started work on Aeva. I've always been assuming my role here, and I hope to be able to keep doing -- if not here, at least over at aeva.noisen.com, where I'll always be available to help. But I know that the support work for SMG was very, very unexpected to me. I didn't "sign up" for that. So, all my sympathies to JovanT ;)

It was a long time ago.
