WE are in danger of losing Nao as the developer of this mod. I posted a message about it here and would ask those that want this mod and the others that Nao develops to take a look:

what is the real problem with Nao? ??? :-\
I see that he do a excellent work with AEVA and SMF Media Gallery.
As far as I know. He take the Karl Benson mod and do a very good work. Also I like their work in SMF Media Gallery too.

For now he is the only that is working on this mod for several versions ago. He is the official owner of this mod now. If somebody, continue bothering to Nao. We lose the support of this mod. Personally I'm happy with Nao as developer of this mod.

Perhaps he is a bit sarcastic. But Nao is Nao and while he made a good job, I don't care. ;)

@weightman> thanks for your concern. But, actually, I never said I'd stop working on Aeva overnight ;)
Until I can find a solution that satisfies both myself and the SMF team, I decided to focus on getting out a new release with some of the stuff that was requested recently.

It's not available on the mod site yet, but you can download it from here:
http://aeva.noisen.com/dev/5143/test-svn-releases/msg228695/#new
I'd appreciate if some of you could test it. The new features seem to work fine btw.

Also, I'd need all of the translators to release an update to their language files, because there are some changes.
Specifically, aeva_hq and aeva_hq_desc were removed and replaced with 6 new lines. Also, the aeva_youtube_noexternalembedding stuff is now just aeva_noexternalembedding. (It's not new, but I removed the compatibility code to encourage translators to get to work, lol.)
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

I'm glad you're still around.  Nice avatar btw.  :)

In case I can't come again for some time -- I haven't had the ability to post v5.2.56 on the mod site, so you'll find it only on my website for now. Sorry about this, I got a bit carried away with the length of my latest post. Typical me.

It's a problem with your SMF install. Are the folder variable set correctly? (Settings.php)

Yeah, it's completely screwed up... Use slashes for starters, not backslashes ;)

So, I have this running on a dev site now... am I missing something, or does it not actually have  buttons for inserting video (unlike the older YouTube 2.4 mod)

What do you need a button for? You just paste the Youtube link. Like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWUrj22pRD0

What do you need a button for? You just paste the Youtube link.

Well, 2 reasons:
1) As far as I can tell there's no way to make it NOT embed, if people don't want it embedded
2) There's no way for people to know what they can actually do.

1) put the text in a [ code ][ /code ]
2) Just tell them. It's easier to explain "Just paste the Youtube link in a post" than to tell them "Click a button to insert unnessescary BBC code".

It isn't code.

Telling them in some sticky or readme somewhere is much less obvious than a button in every post.  And the code is necessary for exactly the reason #1 above.

Anyway, the question has been answered: this mod doesn't do it.

You can also wrap the link in [noembed][/noembed].

But why use BBC when it's not nessescary? A BBC code always has a reason to be used, like changing [ b ] to <b> in the code.

Correct.  In this case it's changing a link (such as: http://www.youtube.com/v/xQhz7lSdUxo&hl=en&fs=1) into (random video chosen here):
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/xQhz7lSdUxo&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/xQhz7lSdUxo&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

The only difference here is it's doing it by default rather than when told.
