I know from the README file that there's a way to disable embedding in the shoutbox:

QuoteJust find the position, in the relevant source file, where data is put through the "parse_bbc" function. Then on the line BEFORE it, add:
      $context['aeva_disable'] = 1;

Can someone tell an idiot like me which is the relevant source file for Advanced Shout Box?

Thanks!
i need that answer too, I put $context['aeva_disable'] = 1; just before    $text = parse_bbc($text); in yshout.php file, but doesn't work :(

I must be retarted, because I need you to explain this a little better.
I read what you said there and then did what I thought you were trying to say...
But obviously I got it wrong. Can you break it down so I can better understand?
Sorry for being so slow.

@PRaDiUS

Try this:
In Subs-Aeva-Custom.php
Search for
/* // REMOVE THIS LINE TO COMMENT OUT

Copy the part of the code, which is for the height / weight part of hd videos
This one

foreach ($sites as $si => $te)
{
// Set YouTube's HD videos to the same size as normal widescreen - you can also do: unset($sites[$si]['size']['hd']);
if ($te['id'] == 'ytb')
$sites[$si]['size']['hd'] = array(640, 385);
}

Paste it after the next /*.

Don't forget to reload the thread which includes the video and maybe clear the browser cache.

Sorry for being so slow.

In your Subs-Aeva-Custom.php file you have this:
/* // REMOVE THIS LINE TO COMMENT OUT

foreach ($sites as $si => $te)
   {
// Set YouTube's HD videos to the same size as normal widescreen - you can also do: unset($sites[$si]['size']['hd']);
      if ($te['id'] == 'ytb')
         $sites[$si]['size']['hd'] = array(640, 385);
   }

This is a example of how it's suppose to be done with YouTube. This particular code makes youtube's hd's always to be shown at 640x385 which is smaller the the official hd size(854x505).
By default the code is commented out(deactivated), so you have to remove /* (or the first one at least) in order to activate that portion of code.
So the working code is this:
// REMOVE THIS LINE TO COMMENT OUT

foreach ($sites as $si => $te)
   {
// Set YouTube's HD videos to the same size as normal widescreen - you can also do: unset($sites[$si]['size']['hd']);
      if ($te['id'] == 'ytb')
         $sites[$si]['size']['hd'] = array(640, 385);
   }

Currently adding more settings for youtube different sizes is not working. I don't know why.
If you make this for example:
// REMOVE THIS LINE TO COMMENT OUT

foreach ($sites as $si => $te)
   {
// Set YouTube's HD videos to the same size as normal widescreen - you can also do: unset($sites[$si]['size']['hd']);
      if ($te['id'] == 'ytb')
         $sites[$si]['size']['hd'] = array(854, 505);
         $sites[$si]['size']['normal'] = array(425, 344);
         $sites[$si]['size']['ws'] = array(640, 385);
   }

It won't work. At this moment it only accepts one setting. I guess it's some youtube's side bug or they have modified something.

You forgot the extra {}'s.
Also, YouTube is broken, yes. I discussed it here but got no feedback so far.

@silverf0x. It means that the AEVA code is duplicated (or even triplicated) in your ManageSettings.php file. You have to remove the duplicate code.  This has been revisited more than 20 times on this thread. You should really try and read some of the previous pages first.

You do realize that this thread is 250 pages now, right? Do you think anyone is going to bother trying to read that when they could just ask a question?

Kindred

well, if the user does not bother to take some effort to read and see if the question has been asked, why should the other users bother to take the effort to repeat themselves?

Seriously...   there is a search button just up to the right....

Please do not PM, IM or Email me with support questions.  You will get better and faster responses in the support boards.  Thank you.

I agree.. use the search button. I do, with various word choices as well.

This mod is so tremendous.... I think it should be built into SMF with an option to turn it on/off.

Nao, regardless of what you do, please know you and your work are greatly appreciated.
I, for one, love what you and others do here, and I LEARN from all the programmers.

Everyone here who creates mods does so because they love programming and want to make SMF better for all of us who use it. Leave the tongue lashings to yourself and respect what these people have created, please. Put yourself in their shoes.

Nao 尚

@Cheschire> 250 pages is a bad excuse. Even a 10-page topic is going to have the same treatment. People just read the last few pages and usually they'll find their answer there. Additionally, they try to read the first post. That's why I'm putting the FAQ over there. In the first post. Which some people still can't get to read. Uh... So, yeah, 250 pages, who cares. Just read the last few pages and you'll always get your answer, since the same questions come up again and again and again from people who can't frakking take a few seconds to read the first message...

@Kindred> Unfortunately, the "search in topic" feature is broken or something. It never returns correct results for me.

@Snowy> Yeah, at this point it should be built into SMF and I'd gladly let the SMF team take it, but only if they use my code (I don't think it can be improved upon), which they'd never do (they like to rewrite everything). Although since Karl is now part of the team and he contributed to Aeva (if only by creating its earlier incarnations), maybe they would be willing to do that. The main issue right now is that YouTube quality selection is frakking broken and I'm waiting for them to fix it -- I don't think they ever will. They want to force us to only see HD or not HD, instead of HD/VHQ/HQ+/HQ/LQ+/LQ.

(Hey, 4 posts till the 5000 replies mark...)

Is it normal for a user to get an error on an admin file?
Happily using a heavily modified 1.1.16 version of SMF!

SOLD my website - thanks it was a good run - they converted to vbadvanced. (and screwed it up good!)

You probably don't have permissions to create files in your Sources folder. Check your server settings.

Thanks - What files would be created in the Sources folder?  I have the mod installed, it's working great - but "users" are generating that error.

Nao, these support topics give an extremely unfair impression of the community's view on your mods, they will always bring out the negativity. The fact is, for every negative and selfish post by one of your users, there are 100x more people who are silent but are very thankful for your work. It's just human nature that we only tend to post when we are having trouble rather than simply to say thanks and nothing else.
