Simpler Username and email check when sign up ?

Hi,

When someone is signing up and entering the Username, if that Username is already taken, by default it shows a yellow square sign. 

I really like to simplify this process because right now there are 4 steps to find out if that name is already taken ie. a question mark >  then click ? to check > then a triagle yellow sign > then click again on yellow sign to see " Username not available".  Here is what I wish to have:

1/ Can they just enter the Username and if it's OK, a popup underneath or beside to say: " Username is Available"

2/ If they chose a Username that is already taken, then a popup to say: Sorry, this one is already taken.

3/ The same with email, if they enter the email that already in use: popup to say: sorry, this email is already in use and are you forgetting the password?

Which version are you already running?

Note that I doubt this will change in SMF core, meaning you would likely get better support for this as a mod (I can move this to Mod Requests if you like?)
