Please check out:
Converting to SMF

You can find a converter in Downloads/converters.

No mods can possibly be converted, however the important data is converted: posts, members.

NaYa,

You would want the vBulletin 3.7 converter.  We haven't developed a 3.8 converter, but the 3.7 converter works just fine.  You will want the SMF 2.0 converter, but please remember our 2.0 converters are in development and are only released for public testing :)

what about attachments ??

i am little bit curious ........
http://www.filmyplanet.com - The entertainment portal !

Norv

Attachments should be converted, just like members, posts, avatars.
Have you tried the 3.7 converter?

but ther is a small edit i am using Vb 3.8.4 ...

any problem with that ?

i heard something about anty converter in vb

Norv

There is no problem either way : the converter might work well or not so well, but it won't do anything wrong, so in case there are problems, please let us know.
In any case, you will want to know that the 2.0 converter is not stable yet (it may have a little more bugs), the one to 1.1.10 is considered stable.

About the error:
Please make sure that the user of the SMF database has access to the vBulletin database. You can do that in 2 ways: by installing SMF in the same database as vBulletin, or, in your administration cpanel, make sure that the user of the SMF database has all rights in the vBulletin database.

That's fine, if I understand correctly: so now the new user is the user declared in the SMF installation, and SMF was installed in the same database.

It seems okay, sure... Perhaps something is wrong in the vBulletin config file itself. Is there a file named config in vBulletin configuration folders, like /home/mobile4m/public_html/admin/config.php and /home/mobile4m/public_html/includes/config.php folder?

On another note: [SMF Converter] vBulletin 3.7 as written in the topic is for SMF 1.1.10. As said before, this is the stable version. In case you wish to try converting to 2.0 directly, please use the attached files instead.

Ah, it seems that your vBulletin tables have no prefix then? They are named something like "user", "attachments", with no prefix. That shouldn't be a problem, though. I'll try to check why it seems to be.

Can you please tell whether you are using the scripts for SMF 1.1.x or for SMF 2.0 ?

In any case, you will want to know that the 2.0 converter is not stable yet (it may have a little more bugs), the one to 1.1.10 is considered stable.

You can try to convert to whichever you wish, but 1.1.10 might be a choice with less troubles. (well, it's a probability :) )
The problem we have now, with this config error, doesn't depend on converter version. (I simply wanted to know only to make sure I am looking at the same line numbers).
Side note: You could however install a SMF 2.0 in a new folder forum2, for example, and use the 2.0 converter files for that one. Please make sure you install in on the same database too, or with the same user (but with a database prefix = "smf2_" or something different from your SMF 1.1.10 installation).

About UCWEB: I cannot help on that, I don't have any appropriate environment nor experience with mobile browsers. Also, I think it may be better to keep issues separate.

Back to the point: Can you please provide a file config.php, like the one we talked before, where you replace the confidential names with a trivial text like you did before ("mydatabasename" instead of your real database name etc)? But it would be very useful if you could replace only the strictly necessary text, all the rest kept identical. Thank you!

Could you please use a lightweight editor, like Notepad++, or Notepad2, or TextPad, not microsoft editors to work with .php files? They insert a lot of extra text in the file instead of keeping the code clean, they're really not recommended.

Norv

This file also contains many wierd tags, you probably opened it in Notepad++ after saving it in Wordpad?
You might not see in wordpad the tags it adds, it hides them from view, but they are there and PHP doesn't work with them.
I'll clean it up, but any problem the original config file may have had, it might be lost from sight now, because of the broken wordpad format.

Please, make sure you make another copy of your original config.php file and keep it safe.

I attach a file that works (should not result in such error), in case:
- it's saved as <vbulletin folder>/includes/config.php
- note that vbulletin database is named 'vbulletin' in it, please edit that value, but only open this file with Notepad++, never wordpad or whatnot.
- smf 1.1.10 was installed in the vbulletin database
- I used the files from [SMF Converter] vBulletin 3.7 , ran from the smf1.1.10 folder.

It doesn't seem like a problem with the user, actually. It sounds like SMF converter is not reading that config file properly, and I'm not sure why.

First, are there errors in the webserver log by any chance? Specially interesting might be errors referring "require-once", but anything could be useful. You can normally find a webserver error log in your host's cpanel, or in some special directory in your FTP account (it depends on host).

Second, please consider using the attached file. All the messages on second page could be useful.

Then, it seems this is related to your setup (and not necessarily directly to vbulletin and SMF even). Could be a problem related to the server configuration, and it may be useful if you can make a phpinfo() file for us to take a look at, too. (What is a phpinfo() file?)
In any case, I can also try to convert your database myself, in case you agree. Please let me know if that is the case, I will PM you for details.

ook ...how i remove vbulletin from root ?? and also from databse !!
For files: just delete its files. Please make sure you don't delete folders that belong to other installations, like "forum" for SMF, but perhaps there are others.
For the database: you may want to remove the tables. (though you can also keep them, they don't really hurt much). You need to pay a little attention if you want to remove the tables, to avoid removing "smf_" prefixed tables, or any other tables related to some other application, if there are any.
If you want to remove the tables I suggest: making sure you have a database backup (even if you are forced to do a full backup in cpanel for it, it doesn't take that long), and then, log in phpmyadmin, select the database and "Structure" tab, then check the boxes at all tables that do not begin with "smf_" and you know they cannot belong to other applications either, and from the menu down the page, drop the tables.
Please don't do that if you're not sure what else is installed on the same database.

I don't have a vb installation so I cannot tell what folders are in vb and which are not, and I can't tell either if all the tables in the database are vb. Perhaps ask at vbulletin for the list of files and folders and database tables that a complete installation has?
They require all vbulletin traces removed when license expires as far as I know, so they should be able to assist with all that needs to be removed.
